O Brothers of the Angle,

Have any of us seen the documentary 'An Inconvenient Truth'? Presented by Al Gore, ex US Vice-Prez.

The polar bears have started nesting on hard land because the ice is melting because we're abusing the environment because we wage too many wars because we're running out of fuel (and other excuses) so we make war to get more fuel and that needs more fuel and fuel burns and makes heat so everything cold is on the melt and what was warm will evaporate.

No snow on Mount Fujiyama. Last ice crystal was photo'd last season.
Polar ice caps will have melted by 2050, due to the ozone gaps and warming seas. Dolphins have been spotted in the North Sea, and warm water fishes are being caught in English waters.

And our rivers, which are shrinking not just because of dams.
No rivers, no fish. In 15-25 years. Our lifetimes. Our kids will fish for mahseer in Mongolia because that's where we'll have to send the mahseer to survive. Forget about tranplanting mahseer to Europe, we'll probably have to seed Greenland.
The documentary also says the White House and The Bush Govt have been editing every scientific release to prove global warming and it's causes, especially the meaningless wars we wage on other people.

There have been no winter rains for the last three years in my part of the fishing world and I'll tell you this, I live 200 yards from the Kosi river and I see it getting smaller year by year, rains or not.

Sorry if I sound like a doomsday prophet but I've just finished watching my copy and am still shaking a bit.

Will try and circulate a copy as soon as I can obtain a personal one, but if anyone esle come's across it please do so because I'm off to the mofussil for a bit and haven't been able to lay my hands on one.

Vedan

Vedan,
No ganga dolphins on the stretch where they were sighted for generations, river has shrunk >100 ft in depth...I hear you.
None would accuse us of being cassandras...
Best

Bobby,
We can do exactly what we've done about all the wars in the last 10-20 years.
They're the biggest cause of heat.

Hi,

A client from the US who I was guiding talked about the film and said it was a "must see".
Bops can you arrange for a screening in Bangalore? Would give some of us an opportunity to meet and catch up.

Sandeep

Try not to get to depressed about it, but take the message to heart.

There are things everyone can do on a small scale to make a difference and one day someone in a position of power will take notice, they will have no choice.

Personally, I think deforestation has a lot to answer for when discussing the monsoon, or lack of it, and the state of Indian rivers.

It is only a small part of the whole question of global warming, but is one of the major issues in Southern Asia.

Hi Sandeep,

Sounds like a good idea. I may not be able organise it though since I work two jobs as well as moderate the site. Really don't have the time :(

Cheers
