I was thinking of pairing the Penn Sargus 6000 reel with Ugly stick Big Water 9feet spinning rod.
Can any 1 let me know if that is a good idea :? ?

check out the reels review at stripersonline. the main gear is a slight issue to be kept in mind.

the review is of the sargus 8000 but should be true for the entire line.

Hello!

I am using a Penn Sargus 5000 since 1,5 years.

I fished it heavily in the sweat water at home in Austria (approx. 40 Sessions).

And used it for my time in India where i stayed 5 months.
I fished approx. 3 Months nearly everyday.

All the fish in my posts are catched on this reel.

I can only say the best about the sargus its still working well (and i really abused it).

The main advantage:

In this Price class its very hard to find a comparable good reel.
Its laying the line perfect on the spool.
There is a second spool included.

disadvantage is that the black finishing get easily damaged, but this is only optical.

That's my opinion.....

cheers and tight lines

Hi Madvento,

Thanks a lot for your response. Even though review says there is something wrong with the main gear in striperonline, i guess it should be decent reel in that price range.

Regards
Prabin
