My flight to Delhi is booked for May. I'll spend a few days in Chandigarh with a friend, before I head into the mountains to escape the heat!
During my 6 months in India I'm hoping to fly fish for Trout in the mountain streams, and lure/ bait fish for Mahseer. I'm also hoping to do some sea fishing, probably with lures. And of course, being an angler, fishing is rarely off my mind, so I'll take advantage of any opportunities that may come along to fish other tactics/ for other species!
I'm putting together a list of my tackle requirements. I'm travelling with a backpack so the gear has to be limited to a large extent. Here's my list to date:
8.5 foot 5/6 weight 5 section travel fly rod
9 foot 6 section travel spinning rod, casting 20-60 grams
Cheap fly reel and 6 weight line
Shimano Baitrunner 8000 size with 2 spools
Line: 250 yards each of 5b, 12lb and 20lb
Small box of mixed flies
6 mepps type spinners
assortment of rubber baits and jig heads
6 assorted Rapalas
Assortment of hooks
A small number of weights
Small quantity of wire leader material
Forceps
That's it!
Have I missed anything really important, or could I perhaps leave some of this at home, to save on weight?
Cheers
Ric
