MKen,

In Uttaranchal it is called 'mundwa'.
After massive doses of it as groundbait, it works for mahseer same as 'atta' does.

Where do you fish?

Cheers

V.

Let's meet up. I will be in rishikesh next weekend (maybe). would be great to meet and learn few things from you.

Hey Mahseerken,

How's the scene at Dadupur, I fished at Hathnikund and Tajewala in last week of Jan. Didn't even got a bite? Got late otherwise would have tried Dadupur also.

Hey Mken,

Same waters...

Be damn good to meet- as Jefe says, swap some lies.
How about the Ramganga, last week Feb? I'll be stationed there awhile.

Cheers

V.

Btw, it's getting near time to hit the Yamuna below Tonse junction....

Hey V!
Seems like we will miss each other. Planned this trip to the Ganga for a while. Need to get into a raft and get my fix of adrenaline. Will surely cast.
Thanks for the tip on the Tonse. Can you give me a few more details, if that's cool with you.

Hey Mken,

Bit early for the ganga, aintit? We used to hook some unlandable stuff just below the 'Golf Course' set of holes, just below the big Phoolchatti pool. Standing joke used to be parking a newbie just below the rapid and waiting for him/her to come back shaking and begging for a drink. 3" copper and chrome spoons used to be good, am planning on a 'big hit' revisit to the Ganga this year.
Tonse junction: well, there probably isn't any water in the Tonse this year, but the part where the T meets the Y is naturally bare and shelves gradually, so the water here warms up sooner than the upper 'Bridge Beat' section. It's small water, 10lb class but you have to go into stalk mode- y'know, bent knees, bum in the water, hunnerd yard stare and twitchy rod tip. Exciting. Chrome No.2,3 spinners or 2" plugs. Chilwa best on a two hook mount.

Jefe,
I am here, my phone's out of dosh, and don't know how to get back to my sis's place.. Your phone was engaged the two times I called.
Will buzz again...

Cheers,
V.

Hey V!
Never to cold for the ganga. can always jump right in. And the fish are there all the time too. Caught some great ones at phoolchatti a couple of years ago on Xmas day.

Thanks for the tips. I find Jointed Rapalas (silver, trouts and fire tigers) the most effectiev till now. will try what you have suggested.

Hey Can you still fish Phoolchatti? I thought it was a part of the reserve and no fishing was allowed.

Better you than me, mate, for a jump into the Ganga in Jan! Had to go in once in the Kali. Took half a bottle of brandy and damn near froze me minerals off...

Not sure about the old Phoolchatti left bank spot but Rishikesh is still issuing permits. Need to confirm PhC. Some kayaking-type friends in Shivpuri suggested fishing from the right bank after a kayak insertion and small inflatable assist. It also involved a rappelling harness, double length kernamantle, pitons and carabs.

Ever caught snow trout off the Ganga? Small hooks, atta paste...

Cheers,
V.
