If you are so sure that your reel took a dip in the saltwater follow the bellow procedures.

Please let us know which reel you have been using. Some of the high end reels come with water proof drag which you can hold under the running water and wipe them clean after every use. if your reel is not with water proof drag. use a balloon to seal the drag knob and pass running water from the tap slowly holding the reel upright. Just a few splashes of water would do. Clean dry the reel with a cloth. Then use a clean cloth with WD40 sprayed on it and wipe the components of the reel. Like open the drag remove the spool and wipe it clean inside out. For once check if the water has entered the drag washers if yes tap it dry.
Make sure you splash enough water on the line roller of your bail arm and they pass a couple drops of reel oil to keep it smooth.
This should suffice.
