Does anybody know how a BOA rig is tied? OWNER makes these rigs and the patent is pending.

Alternatively any suggestions on how to tie gang hooks using wire leader. I do tie them but still need to know what else is possible.

Cheer,

DeZZ

I've done two hooks on a wire leader.
I used a straight eyed hook on the point which was crimped into place.
I then slid a crip onto the wire followed by a single hook with an out turned eye (Octopus hook) and finally a length of shrink tube a bit longer than the shank of the top hook.
Crimp the crimp on where ever you want it to match the size of your bait fish, slide the hook down to it and shrink tube over the crimp, shank and eye of the top hook to make a neat job.
Crimp a swivel onto the top end of the trace and you're done.
Plenty strong enough to set the hook but will need to be changed regularly if you are hooking fish on the top hook.

For big fish I would forget the crimp though and simply whip the shank of the top hook onto the wire with thread and then varnish or epoxy it into place. It will still slide onder extreme loads but the whipping avoids the weak spot in the wire.

No idea how to tie an adjustable "Boa rig" in nylon but for a fixed version, I would suggest that you do a seach for "Pennel Rig".

You are the man KEN :)

But I doubt I will get any shrink tubes around here in UAE. Not that I have searched for it. But will try. So you mean once you have the bottom hook in place, you slide a crimp and then the octopus hook. then the shrink tube that goes over the hook eye onto the shank and the crimp right??

Will try your suggestions and alternative for shrink tube?

You probably can find it you know. Most of this specialist stuff is adapted from other uses and shrink tube in these sorts of sizes is widely used in electrical enginering. If you have a company suplying cables, domestic and comercial RCB "fuse boxes" and the like, give them a call.

Of course there's always e-bay. It's not as if the postage is going to be excessive.

Of course, you don't really need the tube at all. It's only there to tidy things up and hold the shank of the top hook paralel with the wire.

Desmond, there are a couple of electrical / hardware shops in Karama. Just check them out when you go to buy the ballyhoo for tomorrows trip. Else, get yourself some soft nylon coated wire & then tie the hooks up.

Btw, dont forget to buy the heat gun.

Lets see how many people you manage to hook into with your gang hooks. Stay clear of me !!!

I use a kettle - the steam is hot enough to cause the shrink reaction.
