Gentlemen,

Has anyone used metal blades (vibrating lures) in India for fishing?

Secondly, has anyone tried the Octo type jigs for fishing in Indian
waters?

Hello Mario,

Yes, by metal blades I mean vibrating lures (although some are made
out of polycarbonate).

I believe these would be good for your night fishing expeditions as they
put out a tremendous amount of vibrations, allowing fish to home in the
dark or in murky(monsoonal) conditions.

I have tried them out in the cooler waters (non tropics) of Australia
with limited success.

I am keen to know if anyone has tried these in India, where I see no
reason for them not to work effectively as both Australia and India share common waters (Indian Ocean) and common fish species (barra, rawas,
grouper,MJ's etc. to name a few).

Pls try to Google for pics and info - I will try to post some pictures
later.

Regards,
Kingfish

Hello Mario

I managed to get a picture of the vibrating blades as shown below. Please note that the top two blades are made of metal and the last one is made of polycarbonate.

I have put a digital camera battery alongside, for scale purposes.

You'll notice from the photo that all the lures have a bright surface to reflect the sunshine/light in the depths.

The way to use these is to cast them far out (as they are quite heavy) and then rip the rod back and reel fast; this causes the lure to vibrate and you can feel it through the rod.

You then let the lure sink again before repeating the ripping process, with good luck there should be a fish on!

Hamour,

I am sorry, I have no idea if these are available in India - that is the purpose of my asking if anyone has used them.

I am too far away to offer you anything from my tackle box- I am a fellow angler like you and not associated with any product.

Can anyone help him in getting these blades please?

And not very effective as far as I am concerned. Although I have not given them enough time to form a firm opinion.

Ali.

Yes Ali, they are not very popular with local anglers, I used to use some of these made by Halco, They make better lures when trolled.
