Gulp claims that its products are (Soft baits) are Biodegradable and yes, you can use the same for Mahseer with good effect but using them in rapids is a bit tricky.

Ali.

I have been using soft bait for some time now. Like Alibhai says using them is a little different than plugs.

In still pools and lakes I stop the retrieve as often as possible as the softie then dives under its own weight and this cause the tail to flash madly.

In the rapids it is a bit more tricky. A very slow retrieve with a short pauses works well. I try and get the plug to constantly hit the bottom so that it dislodges small rocks and sand. This seems to leave a trail which attracts mahseer. But the downside is that results in softies getting stuck and lost.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Yeah! I head up there pretty often. I think the dams have opened the season but there are also rumours that they have postponed it till the 15th of August.

Stay in touch. And try and tag along the next time we head up.
