Use Grass.. . Sorry mate, any weed is good to smoke them out. I guess M'ken & Ali should be of more help.

Grass carp! Them fish don't take any bait. I have tried everything from palak to grass sprouts to banana stem pulp. They are everywhere in Bhakra. Big guys and really big guys.

I guess I have to keep trying. This season I will set up a floating feeder rig (Ali's invention) and check it out.

I've caught grass carp to 10kg. on the usual Bong bait of bread dough and ants eggs. If they are there then we expect to catch them with the standard Bong rig and methods. They don't fight, at least the one's here don't. A recent 6 Kg fish came in like a twig had fouled the line. I had cast a long way out and I was, until the fish surfaced at the rod tip, under the impression that I had fouled the line on some rubbish. It's more or less true of all (hundreds) of grass carp that I have caught although they might put up a little resistance right at the bank.

All the best

Lakhyaman

Yup! But you have to dig them up yourself.

I have witness my friend and fishing mentor RIAZ bhai catching a 19 kg grass carp.

Idea is to use the weed they are used to eating. In this case Riaz bhai took the weed from the very lake (wasi) and put it on a floating rig setup.

Here in WASI cottage lake, one can sit 10ft over the water on a fence and can easily spot them behaving. Their feeding pattern is non logical. They let go one passing-by bunch of weed and bite on next. i carefully tried noticing the pattern on basis of size and color of the floating weed but to no avail. They have their own discrition beyond human understanding.
So keep tryin.

Maize=corn is what we use, iff you can get canned sweet corn its the number 1 bait or dried corn, that has been in water for 24 hour with sugar and then cooked for 10 minuttes. I always use a Hair-rig and fished on the bottom. REMEMBER to use a lot off prebaiting.

Once, We lucky found that they bite on a weightless one hook rig, the bait was a mixture of (2portion wheat flour, 1 portion maize flour and 1/4 portion suji, sweetner). The biggest one was 4KG on a weightless -6 hooks rig (called jhaowa)
