Carp fishing guru's

I really need help/advice from all u carp fishing guru's  . I have been fishing in this lake for around two months and i am not able to catch a single big one. I have seen some pretty big ones jumping sround during dawn and dusk.

The lake is around 2 sq km and roughly 120-170 feet deep at the center surrounded by boulders and some trees. There are Rohu, catla. Mirgal and cat fish

To rub salt on my wounds i see the local guys catching 2-4 kg rouhus on hand line. The biggest i have managed to catch is 1.kg rohu (in 2 months). As per the localities there are rohus weighing around 12-18 kgs

I have tried everything i have learned in this forum pertaining to baits. I have tried the following things.

I have been ground baiting two areas specifically.

1. Bread paste with vanilla and coconut oil.
2. Bread paste with banana.
3. Ragi bait with hing , jeera.
4. chicken liver.
5. earth worms
6. Calcutta masala with rice and flour.
7. Whet flour with cardamom, vanilla and egg.

I dont know what wrong i am doing. I am at the end of my wits. Please help me..............................

Thanks in advance,
Vijay Krishna

from the past 1 year I am an active angler for carp

in ur problem i think u have to be very careful in groundbaiting a specific area. i mean use less quantity of groundbait when the fish is near.

i don't know what tackle u r using but i guess u r using baitcasting tackle. setup is also very important.

talk to the fellow anglers there and see what bait and groundbait they r using and then accordingly choose ur bait and remember to keep it simple.

i don't know the bait u r using is good or not but u can use the following bait for carps

1. Maida paste plain or with yellow color
2. bread and rice bran

keep updating about ur latest news so that we can help each other

reagrds
manish (nagpur)

Note: I am against handline (jhaboo's)

Thanks for the info Manish. I am using a spinning tackle (Daiwa 8ft rod and shimano fx4000 FB reel with circle hooks and mustad carp hooks and local wide mouth hooks).
The rig i am using is the moving wight (1/2 ounce) one.
The local hand liners don't use any ground baiting. they use maida (maida with boiled silk worms paste) or worms. they either catch good sized carps or fresh water eels.
The other day there was a guy who used bread paste (bread paste and coconut oil) and caught a 6 kg rohu. he was using Shakespeare tackle with circle hooks.

I will keep the forum updated on any developments.

Thanks in advance

Hi Vijay,

You can try below mentioned hook baits.

1- Roasted Gram (Bhuna Chana) Powdered 100 Grams
2- Cardamom (Elaychi) Powdered 4-6 Nos.
3- Rice Powder 50 Grams
4- Shugar Powdered 50 Grams
Make dough of above ingredients with some Ghee / white of egg and use some bright color if you want to make your bait more presentable. make sure the dough is very soft.

If you are getting bites and you are not able to convert them, use bolt rig. Feeder rig with above ingredients will surely produce some amazing results.

Regards,

Ali. 8)

Thank you Ali bhai,

I will try both the rigs this Saturday 8) with the mentioned bait and let you know the results :P .
Also i have one more question to you. There are a lot of small rohus who keep nibbling the bait and in some time the bait is gone. Any suggestions to avoid this or what is to be done.

Also i wanted to know how much of the hook should be covered with bait to get the max results.

Also i had a doubt regarding what gram (for bait, green, black) to be used?

Thanks in advance

Vijay

If small fish are finishing your bait, use small hooks and a bolt rig. Simply use Bhuna Chana that is easily available in the market.

Best of luck,

Regards,

Ali.
