Better to attach some short lengths of chain to the karibeener than trebles. The chain links are unlikely to get caught up in the same timber that your lure is caught in and will provide a more secure hold for straightening your hooks than another hook of similar or lighter strength. Chains also have the advantage of being heavy enough to bump the hooks free as they slide down the line. All this is usually accademic these days though as heavy braid is usually more than strong enough to straighten hooks with a straight pull if you wind it arround something solid. Not trying to knock your first post Hookclaw (welcome abaord by the way), just offering an alternative. |
