They work best for GTs here in Chennai surf...Not sure how well they work in freshwter

Yes poppers do work and do work very well at times. Not all fishes take poppers though.

Feeder rigs in combination of hair rigs are more effective.

Is this question about poppers (floating lures with a cup shaped face) or about popups (floating baits tethered to the bottom) ?

i know a place in cochin which has hundreds of baby tarpon in fresh water which will try out small poppers any time

Indo Pacific Tarpon or Oxeye herring, I would not call them babies, but do not grow to the sizes of their Atlantic Cousins. They are brakish water fish.

Aircut, Barramundi will take Poppers but most of us in India fish for them in Saltwater :lol: :lol: perhaps some of the freshwater junkies will be able to advise you better.
