I'm just wondering how do you catch them and hook them?

With your hands   serious, you just grab them.

If you are squeemish you chould try using a fish (like you use for pet fish) net to dab over them.

Hi

If you are trying the water frogs in the small ponds, use line /small hook with small grass hopper as a bait.Just show infront of the frog and it will jump and catch the bait.

Just release the frog and keep it in the bottles. These are very active and easily attract murrels .

The other ones are lazy bums and would not swim much.

We hook on the back legs .

All the best.

Hi,
Use hibiscus petals or red ribbon on hook, and dangle in front of frog.
Simplest, is tie a lock of hair on hook if nothing else available.

i have seen it been done like this, they tie a cotton wisp at the end of a line on a rod and dangle the cotton wisp before the frog with one hand while in the other hand is a net . the frog swallows the cotton wisp and then the frog is raised from the water, and before it realizes it has been tricked it is position above the net , and it fall it to it when it releases the same. a tumbler is not used for obvious reasons.

the way to rig it is to pierce a hook through the abdomen skin with out puncturing any organs, the inflate it with air through its anus using a syringe preferable, so that it does not dive .

when it beats aground on the surface you are sure to catch a whoaper.

To me the best way is to ask the local guy one day before and dangle some crisp notes in front of him and he is sure to produce a bag ful of them when you go next day for fishing.

Regards,

Ali.

Spot on nothin a few crisp ones wouldn't get you.

As for the frogs we use the common toad more frequently as they are not ones who like water they tend to create more turbulence in the water and continue swimming.

Usually we try and place the hooks at the abdomen of the frog and tying the hooks with monofilament line rather piercing the poor bugers
