Hi Guys,

Mid July is generally non fishing time due to the temp touching the 40ts and humidity nearing 80%. However decided to brave the heat and headed out for couple of hours with my son and nephew. Guys had all the fun leaving me doing the photography and driving the boat. The queen fish were caught on rapalas and my son also caught one on a home made streamer.

Hi Jeen,

That' some good fishing. :D

The fish in the 2nd last photo, seems to be caught on a chatreuse/white streamer. correct ?

Was it cast as a teaser, along with a Rapala ?

Can you post details of how you rigged, the streamer ?

Wow queenfish, looks like a long gt. Bet they fight just as hard and hit those lures like they mean it. What test line is used for them Jeen?

Brit up for adoption here! Haha I'll turn my nose to Anjelina Jolie anyday for that!!

Keep it Tight
Rich

Hi Guys,

Ken & Gypsy you are adopted. We'll finish the formalities when I come up North next year.

Rich - The queen fish is a great game fish highly acrobatic and mostly in the air once hooked, unlike the GT, which is much more powerful and fights deep. We were using 15Lb yozuri hybrid which is a good line .

Makarand-the streamer was used with a swiveled sinker for easier casting
with a spinning set up .

Hi Jeen,

Thanks for the photo of the rig.

What was the weight of the sinker, in the streamer rig ?

Have you used a lure (Rapala) in place of the sinker, for the streamer rig ?

I am sure you will get double hook-ups :D

sorry to view the pics late. actually its my luck. you are damm lucky dude. and so are ur son and nephew. wonderful pics friend. ive never caught a queenfish in my life. i remember once i had gone to durg where i saw a 22 pounder queenfish caught by the ex-mayor of mumbai. he is an old guy. he said that he was not able to fight the fish. thats when he handed his rod to his son who removed the fish for him. i dont recollect his name . but the fish was really amazing. since then i always dream of queenfish whenever i visit durg. here its called " dagol". anyways congratulations to u and ur son and nephew.
regards,
spoonangler.

Hi spoon Angler,

The queen fish is good fun to hook. Here in the gulf it is probably the most likelyfish you would hook. There are around through out the year in spite of the summer heat. We normally use rapalas, or whole sardines hooked through the eyes with a single hook. The trick is to see them feeding on bait fish 9 mostly drifting schools of sardines or anchovies and toss the lure/ bait into the midst of all that activity!
The moment the hook sets they fly out of the water much like a barramundi. However nothng to beat a barra on spinning tackle.
