Brown & Rainbow trout caught 2 weeks ago..

These are the two main types of trout stocked in UK waters. The one on top of the picture is the rainbow. It has a vivid band of blue and scarlet along the lateral line. It also has spots on the tail. This one weighed 2lb 13 0zs.

The other is a brown trout , weight 3lb 5ozs. affectionately known as a brownie. This is the native trout of UK. Note the huge spots along its body. The spots vary in colour from black to brown with red circling. No spots on the tail. Very prominent teeth in the upper and lower jaw. Canabalistic by nature.
