I was in Hubli, last month to visit my in-laws place with my family. It was good to get away from the noise and pollution of Bangalore temporarily. Since it was my first visit, it took some time for me to get to know the fishing locations with the help of Deepak(my brother in law). In Hubli there is the Unkal lake, supposed to have big catfish. But I had no luck, with Crabs taking my bait everytime. Here are some photos of fishable waters around Hubli and in Mangalore.
Neelsagar Reservoir, around 28 km from Hubli.
.
Neelsagar from another approach. Apparently very few species of fish here.

Thats me with Haumeen(snakefish, that is what the locals call it), caught on worm.Supposed to taste good. Taken to the pot by my fishing partner.
.
Backwaters of Malaprabha river(Naviltheertha Dam), around one and half hours from Hubli. One of the better spots to fish.
.
Deepak(my Brother in-law) with his catch from the Malaprabha. Caught on Atta paste.Fish taken home.

Panambur Beach Jetty, Mangalore.
