HOW TO MAKE WOODEN FLOATS:
ITEMS NEEDED:
1. 1 Inch/ 1 Inch Balsa Wood ( Length Depends on how many floats you want to make.
2. Sandpaper ( 2 types, one a soft one another medium)
3. Black Enamel Paint
4. White Enamel Paint
5. PU Clear (Polyurethane)
6. ABRO Tape
7. Some Small Safety Pins.
8. A sharp spare knife.
TOOLS NEEDED:
1. Hexa Blade
2. Pliers
3.2 Set of Small Flat Brush
HOW TO MAKE:
Cut the wood length to 5 Inches now using the knife start shaping the wood piece crudely similar to how you sharp a pencil. When the desired shape starts to appear then use the sandpaper to smooth the wood into the neat shape as shown in the picture..You can keep the tip (the part that floats above the water) as per your desired length.. NOW YOU HAVE THE WOOD READY
PAINT:
Cut some abro tape and paste it circular to the tip at regular intervals.. The tape will prevent the wood to be painted.. Now apply black enamel to entire wood and let it dry.. Enamel paint takes more than 36 hours to dry.. Once dry remove the tape.. Now you have all the wood painted except the blank spaces.. Take the flat brush and paint the open circular blank spaces ( the white paint as shown in pic). Let it dry for another 36 hours..
PU COATING:
Dip the wood in the PU Solution and leave for 2-3 hours.. Now the float will never absorb water.. Your float is almost ready
SAFETY PIN:
Take small safety pins and cut the length where the head is to the point where it forms the circle. This circle is small enough so that the float won’t move up n down between size 8 lead shots. You can adjust the length required by moving the lead shots. Now take a small nail and hit it at the bottom and let it go all inside ( pull it out with a plier). Now you have a 1 inch hole ready so that you can insert the pin into it( see the pic for reference) push the pin inside and finally use some instant glue at the point where the pin has gone in.. This prevents the float coming off the pin…
YOUR WOODEN FLOAT IS READY..
P.s: Choose Balsa or Pine wood as they are highly buoyant…
I have tried it and they work excellently for float fishing…
Please let me know your suggestions..
