The rain came bursting out of the sky,the termite flies anxiously waiting for the first drop of rainfall came bursting out of the ground, soaring high into the sky for few minutes of their life, then landing into the streams and rivers here the fishes after a long winter happily jump and splash with joy, welcoming the flies with open mouth  .Me i did what i had to do and what had been done for generations, took out my fishing rod ,gathered some termite flies then went fishing to umiam ,a river just 4km from my place. The rain signifies the start of the fishing season in Shillong. Some of the pics on the very first day of my fishing season.

i know! felt really bad,but we have a believe that the first catches of the season is a gift from the river,so by not accepting the gifts is like an insult to the river gods. i don't want to be on the bad side of the higher up,might not have a single bite for the whole year, gives me the chills thinking about that. But be assured the next catches are going back into the river. That's my promised.

On the conservation front - keep some fish but also return some unharmed! Remember to break / crush barbs on your hooks! You have to fish tomorrow, too.

And take some time to spread the message, too.
