Firstly, apologies for the quality of the shot; it is a digital dupe of a print.

The rudd was caught on a Mepps, which can be seen hanging out of the fishes mouth. Venue was a canal in Belgium, can't remember the name, perhaps Bops can help?

For the uninitiated, rudd are pretty exclusively vegetarian, but may eat other fish once they reach maturity. That would be when they reach a weight of something like 1lb, not 1oz like this one!

If you look very closely, you can see the long white beard starting to grow out of Bops' chin

LOL :D That was close to seven years ago! Dunno how that little fish hooked himself on a No 3 mepps.

I think it was a canal close to Gent or was it Oostende? I remember we tried our hand at carping with no luck!

Beautiful place and great beer!

Hey Steve you remember that grass carp you hooked on a floater in malvalli? Here it is!

Fred,

I am afraid you have lost me...

Unless ofcourse you are suggesting that you piss me off so that I give Bops both barrels...

In which case I would be happy to oblige.

Did I tell you it's made of foam?

And to paraphrase...never bring a trident to a gun fight. ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Steve,

When you say, it's a digital dupe, does that mean it has been Photoshoped or was he actually a spotty aenemic seven years ago?

Hi Rusty, I simply meant that I had to take a picture of the print with my digital camera. The only work I did on Photoshop was to resize it, Bops may not have been a spotty adolescent at that time, but he was living away from home and surviving purely on what his slaves could cook for him!

I'll tell you a little story about the place in Belgium...

I arrived after an Indian style overnighter on the coach. 8 hours from home to London, then another 8 hours through the Channel Tunnel, through France and into Belgium.
Bops met me in the town square and we walked to the flat, where he was one of 6 Indian computer specialists working for Cisco (I think, or was it Wipro?). Bops, as a Coorgi, was obviously head of the house and, he had his friend to stay.
The others had clearly defined roles when it came to chores, and the youngest, who was only 18, had to do all the menial tasks.
When I walked in, he was sent immediately to the kitchen to make tea for the English visitor. Special biscuits had been bought for the occasion.
He announced that tea would be served for the visitor and retired to put the kettle on. The biscuits were carried through on a tray - very ceremonial, very Raj - and then the young lad reappeared at my side:
"Sir, I've never made tea before, how do you do it?"

If you compare my avatar to the shot of me with the malvalli grassie, you can see that I've not aged at all

I went down to the crossroads...
