Caught a decent size barra after a very long time it was a female(Roe present)

You are right Dezz. This is a decent sized Barra. The big ones are abot 6 to 7 kgs. :D :D :D :D :D

ALL large barras are female- this should have been released back into the water to produce little barras.

Nice catch, though.

Awesome Catch ... Congrats mate!

Can anyone advise where to fish for Barras in Mumbai .... Tried Marve, Gorai and Manori ... Mostly Cats, On and off get a few perchs, Puffers etc etc and so on
Never managed anything above 500 gms ... :) ... I can see the smiles ...

Thanks everyone,kingfish you are right next time definitely,this size was normal for barramundi caught around mumbai coast in the early 80s.Just got reports that the locals are pulling out barra at madh island and manori and at all odd hours.

Can someone pls help ... What bait do we use for barra ... or just lure?
Also read a post above where barras are popping up at manori and madh ... any specific locations? and can we catch barras from shore ...

Nice one Neil, Barra season has started here, unfortunaltey have not got a chance to go for them just yet, we have a run for about 2 months. I hope to get a few evenings towards and around the next full moon. Its just a 15 minutes drive from my place. 20 years here and I only found out a few months ago :oops:
