Guys,

Just want to take a poll on which is the best looker fish caught by Indian anglers. I am taking the liberty of nominating some of the fishes, which I find amazingly beautiful. I know there are many more beauties on this forum which have escaped my attention so hurry up and do nominate the fish you like most from this forum. We will take the poll after all the nomination. Nominate only a fish which has been caught using a rod and reel in India. (Photo of dead fishes will not be included). PM me your nominations.

Here are my nominations.

Epinephelus lanceolatus or bumblebee grouper caught by Atul (snakehead) from Konkan Coast.

Just a clarification. The murrel in the two pictures is not channa micropeltes. Ken's fish is a Channa marulius n the second fish is a Channa maruloides. The micropeltes is the malasian snakehead or Toman.

Thank you Jeen,

Correction made in the above post accordingly.

Regards,

Ali.

Hi Friends,

I beg to differ on the Channa id, the first pic from Delhi is a Channa marulius found almost throughout India while the second from Periyar is a Channa pseudomarulia and these are endemic to Kerala and southern Karnataka.

@barca
We've been pretty confused ourselves about the actual id on the periyar murrel.we guessed maruloides based on the white edges to the scales near the tail of the fish.here are some more pics for your reference http://www.indianangler.com/viewtopic.php?t=3393

i'd say that out of all the pelagics the sailfish and the golden dorado are my favorites.in this thread the looker is the bumblebee grouper.thats my vote.but i'm a male angler and my natural looker vote goes to the one below.

YOUR PICTURE HAS BEEN DELETED. PLEASE DO NOT POST SUCH PICTURES ANYMORE.

Queen Triggerfish gets my vote
What an amazing blue creature! its too sexy for a fish! The bumblebee goes second cause if it werent there it could be seen as a bee replice and has been there in bee format. LOL!, no queen trigger bee is there, na na, but the blue beaty is awesome!

Looks like the Epinephelus lanceolatus or bumblebee grouper caught by Atul is winning the race by some margin. The run for second spot is between Queen Triggerfish caught by Santosh and anabas testudineus or the "climbing perch"caught by Sarath. :P

Regards,

Ali.
