It is not a Ravas or Mullet, look like some freshwater fish.

Can some one tell what the fish on the top is?

Where were they taken ?
The fish fauna of the cold Himalayan streams is rather different to that of southern rivers like the Cauvery.

I'm pushed for time at the moment guys but if you go onto Fishbase.org, scroll down to search by country/island and select India and then click on the freshwater fish button, you will get a list of the hundreds of species found in India.
If you then click on the show photo's button at the top of the page, each entry on the list will appear with a little thumbnail photo.
This makes it farly easy to spot possble candidates and if you then click on the species name for those, it will take you to the fishbase entry where you can check things like max size and the river catchments where the species is found.
Th back button will then take you bak to the main list with photo's.

Good hunting.

Interesting species you got there Allan. Which river in Meghalaya did you get these and or location, district too. Fished there a few times.

The fish on the top looks like a Neolissochilus species probably hexagonolepis.

The bottom slimmer fish resembles a Cirrhinus but the head is not too clear. Not too sure of the genus either.
