The head, tail and the stripe pattern definitely is that of the King fish (Spanish Mackerel).
But the length and the girth.................beats me.
You guys sure there is no photo shop tricks?
Ravi

Dezz,

as mentioned earlier, that was a king that ash caught. I have seen a couple more of similar looking kings taken in the begining of the kingfish season.

Frankly speaking, this one looks as if it tried to make an escape from a narrow pipe :) LOL.

@Bobby: Thats the only one and its making identification a worry.

@Sayed: Malformed fish?? May be but looks as if he put a little extra effort :)

@Keyur: You mean they change shapes in different season LOL ??

It would have been easy to identify this fish if the dorsal side was visible but to me it looks like a Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel, (Scomberomorus commerson) but i am not sure.

Regards,

Ali. :?

Hey Dezz, That's the strangest looking Spanish Mackerel I've ever seen. Do you have any other pictures of that fish? I've seen some really 'wide' Mackerel here but this one!!!

Regards,
Mighty Marlin.
