Hi Vishnu,

Welcome to IA, hope you have a good time. I saw the videos, you guys have some amazing fishing available down south.

Make the most of it but take good care of what you guys have.

For me hooking into an active Threadfin with a lure is the ultimate experience. There were days in Bombay when we got threadfin like this perhaps even more. It used to be a common thing to walk home with one or two of these guys on every outing during the season. We do not even see them feed there now.

Look forward to see some more posts from you with these lovely fish.

Regards,

Bobby

I always thought women could stir a mans world but Fish......he he he......good catch Cochin ,as i can see in the picture this Threadfin has slight golden tinge i presume these fish spend more time in brackish water as compared to the ones around Bombay.

Hey Merwyn, you probably need to correct only 1 mistake. When you have a fish on the line / lure, dont forget to strike & set hook. This would ensure a sure hookup. How hard you strike would depend on whether you are using braid or mono line.

best regards,
Keyur

 keyur i use briaid and set the hook by yanking two times,,i think the cuda jumps too often and that disturbs the hook

Don't give it a slack. But even after that if you lose it, it necessarily means that fish was not suppose to DIE TODAY or should DIE ANOTHER DAY :)

yes you are correct buddy never slack your line when you are fighting a fish and keep your hooks really sharp i bet it will help you for setting the hook i lost 7 threadfins in 3 days becoz of this.

And the jaws of threadfins are super hard and they will spit the lure while running so setting the hook is an importent procedure

They are super jumpers they can jump as high as the freeboard of a fishing boat i have seen it when the hook is set they will start jumping and if you are unluckey you can saw your lure flying off from their mouth

Try lures rapala firetiger, macarel, minnow, halco red and white, metal lures such as twisty, sliced, hexagonel, i got my maximum fishes with halco sliced 60-80 gms

live bait is also good try live mullets make sure that the fish is not killed fast becoz the move ment of the bait really attract them. And if you are using metal lures retrive it fast and let it came through top

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tanks guys hope u like it i am now on a ship we are currently on a dry dock thats why i am using the net so wish u all the best

Vishnu,

I guess you are some sort of a kid with immature thoughts. This forum is for Anglers, we don,t bother about HITS on our post, looks as if you are more concerned about the number of hits on your post and apparently it shows from your so called unnecessary "HI". My comment was in good faith and no offense meant. You sending me a "PM" over this is and was RUDE. So better pull your socks and get going. Its a anglers forum. And if HITS please you more than your angling. I will do a favor on you by clicking your link everyday.

Take care mate.

Everyone who takes up angling is an amateur. Its a sport and not science with proven facts. What holds good might not hold good for others. It is the possibilities you have to rule out to zero in the fish. I believe everyone is treated equally, its how you interpret the message/replies you receive.
