Post subject:  Year ending fishing trips...

Hi Guys,

Had two nice trips recently one with my cousin Rajesh (he is on the forum) and the next one with Abhi (spoon) along with our families.

The beauty of west cost of Maharashtra is such that it keeps calling.

The trip with rajesh was his first saltwater angling experience. The lure crushing hits was something he had never experienced before and I saw his hands tremble when he got his first. He is now salty for ever.
We landed about 6 Groupers (released 4) and two MJ’s while trolling. We also did some surf fishing with baits and caught two stingrays. The most pleasing part of the trip was that we accidentally discovered a MJ nursery hidden in mangroves; the place had literally 100’s of small MJ’s. I had a blast throwing small lures at them on light tackle. Over a dozen fish we landed (all released).

The next trip was with Abhi, we all had great fun with kids enjoying the most. On our way we saw some breathtaking locations that are now on “MUST” to visit list. Abhi also taught my kids few things about kite flying and we had a nice evening on the Vijay durg beach. Lot’s of fish were caught (and most of them released). Over a dozen gropers, 4 MJ’s, 1 Barracuda and two Barramundi.

I am happy to share few pictures with my IA friends & wish everyone & their families a very happy, healthy & fishy 2010.

Hi Santosh, Rajesh and Abhi,

Congratulation on a (Two  ) very nice trip. It is always great to end the year on a high note. The queens are fantastic and I think you should have done some spinning with a heavy spoon in the night time from the beach. It would have been fantastic to hook one of these beauties from the beach  .

Congratulations once again on all the fishes caught and keep it up… How come Shefali has not caught a fish this time

Regards,

Ali.. :D

Thanks guys..

Scott, those are not seals but sea otters .. we saw them twice, and it was wonderful to watch this pair.

Next time Ali, the queens were no where in daytime, guess we should have gone out at night on the reef or as you said casting heavy spoons at night time.
But the trip was more of a family outing and with not much time for hardcore fishing.
Shefali & Adhiti (Mrs. Spoonangler) were busy with Kids & camera.. :D

I will most probably go fishing this weekend on my 500 CC Enfield... in search of the jumping barra.

Regards,

Santosh

Hi Pranav,

Only one per angler, or maybe one additional popping rod. One can also cast from the boat towards the rocks. I like to troll very slow, if we are targeting inshore fish like MJ, Groupers, Barra..
