This is our second visit to Lakshadweep. As expected the fishing was good with fewer but bigger fish caught. What we did different was to to pop deeper waters and use bigger lures.
Did experience reasonably good weather with only one day lost to bad weather. The trip lasted 1 week.
Highlights among many included younger son Jinu going overboard !! Rahul losing a monster of a GT ( probably our dream fish ) at the boat when the tail hook slipped out of the split ring !! and yes jinu’s 127cm fork length GT .
The boys did most of the fishing while I Nursed my tennis elbow and entertained myself with light tackle reef fishing!
we did a bit of jigging with poor results due to lack of a fish finder and blind dropping was hard work.
The local fisher men were complaining that the tuna seemed to have changed their traditional route and running this year far away from the island group. We also noticed acres of dead corral which was quite worrying.
Another disturbing news was that a French guy was in the area a month ago to set up a GT popping operation which is cool, but the shocking part was that he caught about 15 gts In three days gaffed the fish and sold the fish to the local resort!!

Embarrasing!

Great as usual. Congratulations to all of you.

The news about the dead Coral and the guy selling fishes in name of sport fishing is really sickening. :( :x

Keep it up and thanks for sharing.

Ali..

Great Stuff Jeen...

Unbelievable that guy...if you get some more details like his name and operation, it would be nice to post it here and make people aware of this unscrupulous character.

Duh,

Tell me one thing? Do you have pictures of you guys catching dory snappers or a fish that probably weighs a KG or two? Or do you have some sort of a charm that attracts these oversize blown up fishes? And what is your tackle like Electric poles with wires tied. You catch these big ones and you keep me wondering more over you keep me motivated (and jealous as well)

Really appreciate your post and the beautiful images.

Dead corals are a big worry, I am a big fan of Sir David Attenborough and watched most of his docu's. They are simply amazing. Latest what I have heard is he is not doing any docu's as he witnessed the changes in places where he had filmed his previous docu's and they were devastating.

Well GOD Bless the world. Have a good year ahead.

DeZZ

All the other pictures are equally awe inspiring  . Congratulations once again.

The fifth picture (First post) is interesting Jeen. I shudder to think that what will happen in case the line is broken or the hook comes out at this particular moment. You are bending at an dangerous angle man….

Regards,

Ali.

Yes Ali,

In spite of all your faith in n your knots and terminal tackle the hook can pull out or line cut on the reef. The result can be bad!.Mostly you will have somebody standing behind you to break your fall if it happens. However in this case Rahul had the camera and jinu was busy watching something else on the water!!
