Hi Guys...
After a long Break without fishing due to work overload :( ,so with My Buddy Binu (Viper) & my Colleagues decided to go to Cauvery for some Mahseer Fishing, Binu decided to take us Below the Shivsumudaram Falls ,where rarely anyone is allowed to go ,had to speak to several concerned authorities  to get the permission go beyond the PowerStation, had to trek & climb down more than 3 Km to reach the spot, but it was definitely worth it, :D

The Place was Pristine & beautiful :D ,the water level was Low clear but Fast while getting down could see some good size Masheers chasing small chilwas ,who were jumping out the water to save themselves, was also told that some of the Biggest Mahseers were caught from here,

without wasting time, tried to cast few plugs but i guess fish were not in Biting Mood, then tried some spinner was & “wallah” ,my reel screamed & had caught My First Mahseer, was a Silver beauty of 2-3 Lb :D , gave a decent fight on a light Tackle in the rapids, after that switched to heavy tackle ,had a few strikes but fish managed to snap the 50Lb Powerpro Braid like a twig :? , with heavy heart had to leave the place as it started raining & had Nowhere to Hide, then spent rest of the day checking out WASI lakes & other places,

Than on our way back …saw a lake near Kanakpura, tried out luck with some float fishing & landed a huge Catfish of more than 16lb on a piece of Breadpaste ….had to leave before the contractors of the lake could see us

sharing some pics of the trip.... :D

That sure is a very beautiful cat, Hari.
Excepting the head (and the colour) the fish is exactly looking like a murrel
Cheers
Ravi

African Sharptooth Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) and as rightly pointed out by angler_ali this fish is responsible for the decimation of many of our freshwater species including it's much smaller Indian cousins the Magurs.

Truly, a monumental and irreversible blunder by the fishery authorities for introducing these fish to our waters.

BTW, heard from reliable sources they taste like 's..t' too :x
