Hi All,

Yesterday we had planned a trip to Bhavani Sagar and hope we could catch few murrels . One of my friend Babu who bought the gears recently from IA Bopps also joined this trip.

When we entered the water by 6.30 am , there was a plenty of fishermen activities and in between there was a medium size crocodile also roaming around.

We had fished in our regular spot for an hour and not even a single strike or fishing action :( .We had moved to some other place where the fishermen activities were less. The climate also very cloudy.
Slowly the sun came up and the fishing action started and its around 8.30 am .We could see few murrels on the action.

Suddenly there was a shout from my friend Babu that he caught a fish and just dragging to the shore. I had landed the fish for him safely as he is very new to this and the fish also quiet big.
( around 4 kgs - beginners luck) 8)
They were just surrounded the fish and immediately I had tried the same place to catch the mate. On the 1 st cast itself I caught the strike and landed the fish after little bit fight.( around 3 kgs) :D

Another friend of mine also landed a medium size one. So the trip was quiet satisfactory and we returned home. :-) :-) :-)

I had used Bluefox super Vib size 5 bleeding spinner and this is the 9 th fish on this same spinner.Lucky one. My friend both of them used Mepps aglia size 4.

Have a nice fishing ahead.

hi ranger....

is bhavanisagar in coimbatore?

i had been to coimbatore 3 yrs back on my way to koonoor...

i hope i can meet up with you and fish for murrel iff i ever get to that side of town again...

you always tantalize me with your lovely catches....

p.s. and i mean this as a request.... do consider catch and release ever now and then... just as you did a good turn to that kingfisher stuck in the fishing net.

ciao. all the best. :D

Hi,

Yes, its in Coimbatore and the dam is 65 kms from the city.

You are welcome to Cbe and pls let me know well in advance. Most of the time travelling . May be we can plan a trip if I am available.

Here in this place, no one releases the catch and its not compulsary .The reason being, it will be caught by fishermen again and we have to pay for it Rs 100 + per kg.

May be the catch and release policy can be maintained where there is no fisheries dept/fishing in the dam or river.

Also there is no sureity about that all the time we catch fish and needed one or two for the Pot . My last catch was 4 trips before this one.

If I am wrong , pls advise.

regards

well done ranger and give babu a pat on the back, has he asked when are we going again yet, cause he must surely be hooked... i dont dissagree with your one for the pot depending on the species... in england there are lots and lots of anglers and if they took home everything they caught there wouldnt be many left after a month, thats why we always put them back.... so as we can catch again next week... but there are types of fish that have to be culled, i beleive in australia it is against the law to return a carp, because as an introduced species they are taking over the rivers...
so thanks for sharing and a very good report....
