Hi Friends,
I have posted some of the pictures of fishing in madurai.
We have always caught Tilapia in Madurai and had no luck with Catla or Rohu (which are available in plenty in the pond I fish)

Hi Vivek
Every time i go to Kodai I see this lovely Dam (Peryakulam Dam?) and it looks as if though there could be huge murrels. Why dont you give it a try?

You are always welcome mate..
but make sure you come before the 15th of May, cuz the pond is on lease and they are going to net out every single fish in it after May 15th..

Ravi

ya I l do tat..
but fishing in dams requires permissions right?
do you know how to get a permission? I also know a couple more of the dams, which are very good locations for fishing. One such place is the Pilavakkal Dam where I was able to see plenty of fish. But when I tried enquiring for fishing, nobody was of help there sadly...
Maybe I can post some pictures of the dam in another post..

I would be interested in knowing a few facts please...

any idea about the depth of the water ? Is it clear water or a bit muddy at times ... do you use bait casting gear.. For Catla, it's only way Catla's are way to like to have... :o

Finally, is this pace heavily fished. If so, what is the bait that the locals generally use...

Knowing all these will help me in working out a suitable bait for Catla and will try for Rohus too.

I am planning to try something on the 9th and 10th of May.

Hai Vivek,
You can try the Fisheries Department at madurai for fishing license and they guide it. My client father is retired official in Fisheries Department and he told that we get license for angling seprately for every dam. (I will intrested to join with you and subhanandhi at may program.)
