Hi,

Since last many days we “Me” & My Friend Naveen were planning to start session from morning but due to busy schedule could not plan in advance trip for whole day out.

Finally we made up and decided to go fishing, this week end, Saturday, we started by 8 am, landed on the bank of River Narmada, beautiful spot by 9 am.

We noticed that water level was high, (Due to electricity generation from near by Dam).
Place has both kid of terrain one side River spread and water is not much fast flowing and on the other side river passes from narrow and deep
We decided to cast lures on fast flowing water in hope of some good Mahaseer game. We saw few carp feeding too on the bottom. After 2 hours effort no results.
We took Local Boat and headed on other side of the river where water was not much fast and river spreads across both bank. Perfect for Murrals and other predator. Tired all lures and bait Again No Luck.

I was little depressed as taking time out for whole day is difficult for us.

We had our lunch with Beer. Headed back to Fast flowing side. By the time it was 5:30 Pm and was going to be half moon eve. I decided to cast bait and wait for 1 hour more as it was getting dark.

Again after 1 hour no luck.

We decided for final pack up, it was already 8 PM and I lost my heart. But when I went and hold my Daiwa Rod what I saw line already taken out half spool. I started thinking may due to current, line loosen. It was on loose Drag.

I started reeling In, I was wrong on the other side I got a nod as if some one saying I will not come out duk duk duk 3 pull.

My heart started pumping finally we got some thing. A Mahaseer or a Carp.?? Lets see. Very carefully I started reeling in, the fight was good. It took 5 minutes to get it out from current. Due to dark can’t make out what it is. Till we saw it on surface Is it a Katla?

And I asked my helper to keep track of fish, sooner I pulled out. It was something dark color CARP. It was strong, I could not hold it slipped.

Guys I screamed as after 11 hours efforts, last rod we picked out gave the result.
“Efforts are endless!”

Tackles Used for this carp:-

ROD Daiwa Combo.
Line Mono 20 lb
Bait Flour based Recipe / Boily
3 Hooks on Jugga Rig Kind.
No Floats used for
Lead Wight

I hope you guys will like pics ! cheers!

Rgds,
Anoop

Nice show and good report Anoop. Congratulation on such fine catch.

By the way the fish you caught is not a Catla.

Catching a fish when you least expect it is the best thrill.

Keep the good work up.

Regards,

Ali.

Thanks Ali!

I know its not Katla, as got dark we could not make out which it was. Its some kind common Carp.

It wil be nice if you can help me to identify more abt it.

Rgds,
Anoop

this is not common carp. we call it DAHI in Pakistan. it is different from common carp. rohu and other carp. its the most tasty fish in the carp family but unfortunately it has not more shelf life. you cant bring it home without putting it in ice. if your journey takes more than three hours.

I think that's a kalabans or however you spell it. Pretty good eating. They get foul hooked in the Ganga while plugging for Mahseer.
