Hi Guys,

Yesterday my some important meeting was postponed , got opportunity to make my way to wards my recent casting location, on Narmada River at Jabalpur, in search of Central Indian Mahaseer, which is just 20 minutes drive from My residence (m lucky).

Reached on Spot at 04:30 Pm, water was clear and level was high due to the water released by Bargi Dam for electricity generation, seemed good time for mahaseer.

I used 6 ft. telescopic rod yesterday, had mono Indian 14 lb Line on it, I dont know what made me to use Telesopic rod yesterday,

I attached minnow orange, green color on it and made 1st cast

No Strike!!!

On my 2nd cast on slow retrieve of just 20 seconds I got a jerk, thought, again Minnow stuck into rocks, but what I saw my reel was cracking took my line for 25 yards and it stopped, when I started reeling in it again started moving to wards current.
I slowly started reeling and tried it should not go into current else the pull may intensified as my line was not in good shape, it took almost 7 minutes to get it on shallow place where we did video. I think It may be around 1.5kg.

It was released back to water after video.

Nice fish Anoop.

That's not a correct way of handling a fish if you intend to release it back. Search the forum to know more.

Hi Anoop,

Nice catch.
tahnks for sharing. The river looks promising. Try different spinners of size 4 & 5 and I can tell you that you will get a lot of small mahseers.

Cheers,
Apoo

Hi FinieBaba,

ine job indeed! Nice to see some Masheer come out of Narmada. Try spinners like apoo said and also silver floating rapallas. There are big fish there.

Congrats on your first Mahseer Finebaba! That looks like a great spot! You are indeed lucky to live close to such a place.

Yaj.

Anoop, A 10 to 15kg Golden Mahseer fights harder than the monsters. They make long runs and goes straight to the rapids.

Apoo

Rapala Jointed minnows in size 13 is the best size to catch a decent size mahseer. We use J13 Perch / Fire Tiger / Silver or the Golden ones.

There’s again rapid are after the visible stable area in the pic :D . Narmada River mostly flows fast in MP as the rivers source it self from MP called AMARKANTAK.

Eager to experience a 10kg Mahaseer fight. Thanks for Lures suggested.

Cheers
