Hi folks,

Here's an interesting video of fish jumping into a boat at night, attracted by a spotlight.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... &q=fishing

There are other very interesting videos on http://video.google.com

Cheers
Bops

Hi Bops,

I had seen something very similar here in Hong Kong.

I was out fishing for GT's with a freind of mine, we were at the spot at about 0400 - 0430, from our point we could see this old chinese couple in a little boat like the one in the video.

They were flashing a Spot into the water and there were loads of small fish jumping into the light, the man was just taking a net and scooping them out and into the boat by the bucket loads, just like shoveling sand. It was crazy.

Mighty M....one of my friends mentioned to me that he had a similar experience in one of the rivers at a place called Mulki about half an hr from Mangalore b/w M'lore and Upupi. The locals out there use kerosine laterns to attract fish...planing to explore this after the rains stop...wanna to join....

Hey Belli,

I've heard stories of villagers using kerosene lanterns at night to attract fish and then hacking them with sickles. Wonder if its true?
Sounds a bit far fetched to me.....

Regards,
Mighty Marlin.

I don't know about the sickle bit but what Belli says is correct. This method is frequently used when the fields get flooded.

Deep in the back woods, of Letcher County Kentucky a hillbilly's wife went into Labor in the middle of the night, and the doctor was called out to assist in the delivery. Since there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern and said, "Here. You hold this high so I can See what I am doing!"

Soon, a baby Boy was brought into the world. "Whoa there," said the doctor, "don't be in such a rush to put that lantern down I think there's another one coming."

Sure enough, within minutes He had delivered a baby Girl. "Hold that lantern up, don't Set it down there's another one!" Said the doctor.

Within a few minutes He had delivered a third Baby. "No, don't be in a hurry to put down that lantern, it seems there's yet another one coming!" cried the doctor.

The redneck scratched his head in bewilderment, and asked the doctor . . . .

"You reckon it might be the Light that's attractin' 'em?"
