This is a trial for me, but seems to have worked. This dam is about 28 Km from Mettupalayam. There were 6 of us and we caught 8 murrel on spinners

Nice fish Michael, I've heard of the mettupalyam monsters from the late Bertie Suares.

Nice to see one on the forum.

Wow! That is a big one.

How large do they get there? Tell us a bit more about the tackle.

Hi Michael,

That's a very nice Murral you have there. I guess the water must be pretty high at Bhavani Sagar now, with all the rain we've been getting.
First time I went there was with Bopanna years ago.
Any news of Mulley from these waters?

Regards,

Mighty Marlin.

HI Michael,

nice catch.
looks like you guys are having a great time. keep the pics coming.

Judging from the size of the fish, seems to be @ 2' 4" long. Just an engineered guess. Was it measured ?

I'm really really missing fishing now. Hopefully I will be back at it in a month or two.

This is to clarify the questions asked.
The rod I used is a ABU GARCIA 9 ft collapsible rod with a ABU GARCIA Cardinal 42RD reel with a 12 lb mono-filiment line and caught with a Mepps No.3 spinner. Most of the murrel caught are in the range of 1 1/2 to 3 KG though larger murrel have been caught. The fish in the picture was about 2 3/4 Kg and 2 1/2 ft long. The catch was made in March before the rains and when the waters were receeding. There is no mulley now in this dam as all have been killed by pollution from the South Inaia Viscose plant.. The fish was caught in shallow water of about 3 feet with standing dead vegetation.
Will send pictures of the lake

Now thats a Fish. Great catch and good fish. I would love to catch this fish some day. Your discription of the fish is least to say modest. To me it look double the size and weight you mentioned  . keep it up mate.

Regards,

Ali..
