Here's a write up about our fishing trip last Sunday

A phone call(more of a wake up call) to Prakash at 8 in the morning and we decided to go fishing at 11 or so.The cloudy skies and the occasional drizzle made us confident we'd get a good catch. We planned to go to this lake near Anekal close to Banerghatta. This lake was originally spotted by Prakash a couple of months ago and he'd landed his first ever catch here.

Landed at Prakash's place at 11.30 or so and after digging earthworms in his garden set out for the lake.It started raining as soon as we reached the lake and we started setting up our tackle.A nervous villager sitting there asked us if the plastic case in which Prakash was carrying his rod was a 'bandook'
We fished for close to three hours or so with lots of bites from fingerlings and were forced to cast far to stop the fingerlings from stealing our bait. While winding up to get back home I realised my line was tight! It was a decent sized Tilapia.. The bad weather forced us to unwillingly leave the place after our first catch at the place with Prakash still grumbling that his new Shimano rod hadn't lost it's 'virginity'

Nice outing and writeup Pran,
Keep it up. Size and no. of fishes does not matter. Its the expectation and joy of angling which makes it sooooo good.

Hi..

Generally all the lakes are leased out..The villagers do not allow us to cast our rods..You were lucky not to get chased out..I am happy for both of you..You would have really enjoyed..

May be, I also should make it there and explore once with Aaron..we are looking out for lakes around bangalore where we can fish( I mean wet our rods atleast) without getting chased out.

Arokiaraj

Hi pran ,
did u forgot to illustrate the last sunday when RIAZ Mayur Binu u and me were there and we caught 9 ROHUs 15 TILAPIA and my rod lost its virginity by hooking a 25kg plus CATFISH  The fish was so huge and mighty that my 10 feet rod bend to make a "U". We were about to take it out from water but it snapped the line.
Mayur was suppose to post the pics along with the whole story but he is off to MUMBAI. :? I hope he'll do it once he is back.
It was a memorable expedition with lots of celebration thereafter.
Postin here few of which i had on my phone.
Thanks

The important thing is to go fishing, a fish caught is a fish caught no matter the size. Keep casting for more.

Bad at writing stories will not deter me to write the whole illustration.
After we missed a 20kg+ catfish last sunday me and riaz bhai was having sleepless nights. They were keeping coming to haunt us. The whole gang was very upset over loosing the luck. Since the last sunday only we were planning to hook it again and through out the week we kept calling each other for their participation. Mayur is in mumbai, Pran couldnot cause of his interview and our beloved viper aka binu was helpless cause of the duty. The show must go on and we decide along the same lines. Riaz planned a 7oclock pickup for me however the matter of the fact is i was ready by 4oclock in the morning.
We reached the spot by 8.30 and made our tackle ready. They were two types of bait. One for rohu and other for the catfish. Out of six rods we put three into each type of bait.
It took almost half hour since the time of ground baiting that fishes started showing the movements and desperation . They were sensing the things. couple of casting after, my rod got engaged. Oh the screeming sound of the reel and the action gave me the time of my life. Riaz bhai didnt wanted to take that out from the water cause there were some onlooker, it could have gone against our future prospect of angling there but this time i was so desperate that i kept telling him riaz bhai i dont want to let it go and please let me tight the drag. I persuaded him and after playing with it for ten minutes it was out. It was a huge 18-20 kg CATFISH. we were more than satisfied.
Another fifteen minute would have gone and again one of the rods got engaged this time riaz bhai took control. He sensed it to be bigger and better than the last one. Ten minutes of fight what it took to be retrieved. Inbeetween riaz bhais friends son keep showing his decent size tilapias and mrigals.
Another ten minutes to the second one, one of the rod got engaged into the catch of the day. It was huge and very fighting. Riaz bhai kept playing it for 20 minutes before it was taken out with the help of the net.
We concluded very early by 1.45 as we had enough.

JUST SET IN

HEy LENNY!
Thanks for the excellent bit of information.
Its a no secret place. Go straight towards ANAEKAL and u can see this place however it is not advisible as we were again there on 15th aug and the contractor of the place came near to us. He is basicaly a local goon with a veerapan like features. He spoke to riaz very politely but at the end of the day around 2.30 pm when we were leaving and BINU was little late in packingup the things he overheard some local guys saying let the GYPSY (we were in gypsy and binu was on bike) guys go and we will rob this chap. In the nutshell this place is near to tamilnadu border and is known for its comunal and criminal records.
Keepin touch and when ever we are going again we will love to take u there.

Raja, it would be nice if you would post an introduction of yourself under the introductions section. Most importantly do NOT use sms language on the forum....
