Bombay anglers, let's plan a day's trip for the 15th of August, in or around Mumbai. Santosh, Yaj, maybe we could return to the Khundalika with a vengeance......what say?

What has happened to the sprit of Mumbai Anglers? No one is responding to the call of Carl for second Mumbai meet :!: . If any motivation is required then my yesterdays score in Powai is 4 no. Hybrid in two hours of fishing. The smallest being 11lb. The other three were released immediately but this one was taken for the pot. Due to a very unfortunate accident where one Mirgal slipped from my hand while taking the photograph and fell down and though it was later released after revival it died so I have decided not to take fishes out of water for photograph and release them immediately after revival in the water itself. Here is the 11lb fish which was taken for the pot.

Hi Ken,
The hook bait is,
1. White portion of bread, 1 boiled Potato, 2 to 3 elaychi and some sweet oil. The mixture should be soft.
2. White portion of bread mixed with Calcutta made paste Swallow Me.
3. White portion of bread mixed with Milk Maid.

Use Milk Maid Mixture when its very hot otherwise the first mixture works best.

The Ground Bait is Cake Crumbs, Oil Cake and Soil mixed together.

If you can put 10 kg of Potato and about 5 Kg of Oil Cake in a Gunny Bag weighted by some stones submerged near the spot you intend fishing for 6-7 days in advance it is also a very good fish attracter. You can leave that gunny bag in the pond for up to one month. Do not forget to remove the same after one month ore whenever you decide to stop fishing on that spot. Hope this work for you. Best of luck to you and PHG.

Regards,

Ali..

Hi ken,
The sweet oil is vegetable oil. One more thing, you can also add Ghee residue (The brown paste left after the Ghee is extracted from cream in your ground bait. :-)

Hi Santosh,

I have had to send back a surf rod, and it's replacement back due to damaged guides, or the two sections not fitting together.

I will be in Mumbai most likely after Dec. 25 . So if you guys have a Mumbai meet around that time, I will look forward to it.

tight lines

A warm up gathering prior to Mumbai Meet II was held at Powai on 5th August 2007 and was well attended and with lot of fun and some serious fishing. Due to some unfortunate misunderstanding Carl was not able to join us and Vishal was not feeling well. The roll call of the day was Dr. Yegnesh, Santosh, Freddy, Veer, Zainul, Hussaini, Jawwad and myself.

Image

From left to right - Jawwad, Yej, santosh, Veer, Zainul, Freddy and Hussaini.

Every one assembled at my Machan and one boat was tied along with it and we all started fishing. It was the first time for Veer to hold a rod in his hand and he was baptized by giving a rod and within no time he became a master in catching Talapia. Now we all know he is hooked up for life. (May god bless him)

Image
A view of the Machan and boat.

The fishes were not biting and except for occasional tremor of the float there was nothing happening  . The real excitement started when suddenly the Machan lurched dangerously as Yeg executed a strike and to his horror found that the fish has taken his boily, stopper bead and all except the hook   . Clearly unlucky but that is angling all about. Some time you win some time you loose. :?:

The best moment came when Santosh got a bite and after strike his line started screaming. At last a catch. It was a joy in itself watching Santosh fight the fish. He was real cool through out the fight despite his shaking limbs and shivering body    . Well done mate. The din of congratulation, hugging and clapping was enough to send all the fishes taking shelter on the furthest corner of the lake.

Image

The catch of santosh. A Hybrid of 6lb.

Well it was fun all along and we hope that the second Mumbai meet will be another great occasion where we all will join hands together once again to land at least one monster and have fun at the same time. The date decided is 14th August night at Powai. Well what say you all.

Ali…

Santosh, Ali, you guys are on a roll!

But what's more amazing is the fact that you'll get to fish on a Wednesday. I think there are plenty on this forum who would like to know the secret to that, rather than fish bait or hook size used.

Hey Carl

The secret is self-employment, some time management & complete madness.... get hold of these ingredients & you too can possibly go fishing on some weekdays..
