Reached Powai at 2:30 pm yesterday ,it was over cast and looked like there was some rain on the way.I was all curious about the mysterious "liquid" bait that was creating a sensation at Powai.
As I reached Ali's machan he landed the first fish a 4.5 lb Mrigal.Good start to the session!
Ali explained his new technique to me and helpful as ever setup my rig for me in the right way.Within two minutes of casting there was a dip in the float and I struck but no luck

bad timing I guess.
A few minutes later another dip and this time it was hooked ,after a decent fight the fish was landed, another Mrigal of 4.5 lbs.
From 2.30-3.30pm there were a total of 8 good bites, the best frequency I had ever seen there.
I think Ali has hit the jackpot with this innovation, the fish seem to love it and cant get enough of it.The waiting period is so short that it almost seems like the T20 of fishing.
All thats left is for him to get the fish to click their tail fins and crack a salute

.
After 3.30 rain played the spoil sport and it poured for the next two hours.
I took the opportunity to discuss my trip schedule with Ali and get his advice since has fished those water quite a bit.
Highlight of the day was watching a member on a neighbouring machan play a 6kg hybrid on a tiny ringal rod and a drum reel,it took about 25 min and we applauded when he landed the fish

.It was sheer poetry!
He did an encore an hour later with another equally large hybrid!
Light was fading fast and there was the India Aus semifinal coming up so I said my good byes to Ali and Santosh who were staying on for some night fishing.
I 'd forgotten to carry my camera so Zainul clicked pics with his mobile phone.I'll post the as soon as i receive them.
As to the secret "liquid" bait

Ali s the man!

Yaj.
