Hi All,

Along with Ali & Yaj, I would like to propose 1st July for a meet, please suggest a ideal location & inform availability.

We would plan a day OR overnight trip with some fishing involved.

Freddie you have to mark this date ..

Guys from Mumbai / Pune,... please confirm.

Regards,

Santosh

Hi Santosh, 1st of July sounds good. What do you have in mind...Kundalika, Pawai, Madh? Spotted a sizable lake at Karjat through wikimapia. Have you been there yet?

Hi Carl,

Few friends on the forum are suggesting 3rd weekend of July as then the water would be clear.

I hope 3rd weekend of July will be comfortable for you.

Mostly we will try Kundalika (upper streams) OR any good place that should be fun going.

I haven't been there, but the Karjat lake also sounds good. Do you have more details on it?

Regards,

Santosh

Hi Santosh, can't confirm the 15th as of now, will keep you posted.
Don't have any further information about the Karjat spot, should do a recce if possible before taking a bunch of guys there. Have you tried Bhandardhara? The locals claim that the pools down stream are hot during the monsoon. Anyway, I guess the Kundalika is tried and tested, courtesy Dr. Yaj and Santosh... so seems like the best option.

Hey Bangers

Why don't we do the same as our Mumbai bro's & plan a fishing trip some on our weekends somewhere near Bangalore :D ,

it’s high time that we give some considerable contribution to the Image Gallery

Hey Santosh,

its a pity that this Mumbaikar is stuck in Dubai
But never the less, I'm gonna make up for it here.

I will be down in Bombay @ 22nd Dec & will be around till @ Jan 12th....Am caught up in family obligations till the 5th & after that I'm free......hopefully I could catch up with some of you guys & do a trip then.

After all I got a reputation to maintain....my mum & my wife both say that I'm obsessed with fishing [smilie=hellyeah.gif]

Now we're off the IA anniversary date by a month. But that's alright, I'm sure there'll be plenty to celebrate about on the 22nd. I really can't say what work will have in store by then, it's a long way off. So let's see how it goes.

I will be in Bombay towards the end July but 22nd may be a bit too early. Appreciate if it can be postponed to a later date in July like the 29th.

If cannot do no worries :-)

Hi Bobby,

What happened, you seemed to have disappeared from IA. Must have gone for a long fishing trip. So nice to have you back.

Cheers,

Hello Santosh,
I will not be around after the middle of July.I would like to suggest one meet now and another later!!Maybe we can just meet for a chat/beer as considering the weather conditions fishing looks doubtful.

Hi Godfrey,

Sorry for the date change, but as you rightly said about the weather condition the fishing would have been doubtful.

Nevertheless, lets plan something  .. tell me what date is good for you & few of us will meet up.

Regards,

Santosh

Hi raymo,

July end looks good for the meet.

we had a washed out mini meet today with me yaj, carl & godfrey. It rained like crazy.

started at 5.am from mumbai & were back my 11.00 am as the entire area was flooded, the river was good 10 to 15 ft above normal level.

Santosh

Hey Freddie, where are you man???

Had a talk with Ali just now. His Machan is getting ready & it will be worthwhile to go there only after the work is completed.

Can you suggest any other place???

Mumbai guys, this a FINAL call.  :x

Bobby, we will make one more mini meet on the 29th.

Santosh

Finally the Mumbai meet did happen  . After lot of planning, speculations, cancellations of dates and one disastrous mini trip to River Kondalika  , every one decided to meet at Powai lake on 08th July 2007 and accordingly Santosh, Yejnesh, Freddy, Vishal , Zainul, Jawwad, Rajender, my brother Hussaini and my self were at the lake early in the morning. Freddy joined forces with Vishal and they decided to sit on the dam which incidentally is favorite spot for Vishal. Many of us have not met before and there was a formal atmosphere at the beginning. Santosh and Yej along with Hussaini took their position on my Machan while Jawwad and Rajinder sat on the Jetty situated in the centre of the bay area. My self and Zainul took our boat to one spot near the hillock and tied it there with the overhanging branches of the trees on the shore. The inaugural catch of the day was one good Talapia by Santosh and within no time Santosh along with Yej and Hussaini started landing one Talapia after another. Santosh also caught some small fishes which we want you to identify for us. The proceedings were liven up when Owen also joined us at about noontime. It was a great get together and a real experience to meet so many of likeminded persons thanks to this forum. The humble but towering presence of Owen, the colorful speech of Freddy  describing the great catches and the monster fights to be had in see fishing, the friendly and winning smile of Vishal, the imposing presence of Yej, the eagerness of Santosh to catch a Tilapia  and above all the eagerness of all to make friends with each other was the order of the day. Within no tine, we, the totally strangers some time ago were like old buddies, chattering like a bunch of school kids, reciting our experiences to each other :D . How the day ended we do not know. It was really one great outing. Meanwhile during all this we also did some fishing and caught some fishes. The total count of the fishes taken that day was-

• Silver 26lb Caught by Jawwad
• Mangur 05lb Caught by Jawwad
• Mirgal 04lb Caught by Myself
• Mirgal 03lb Caught by Vishal
• Mirgal 02lb caught by Freddy
• Talapia 50+ Caught by Santosh/Yej/Hussaini and Freddy.

In total it was a great day outing and fun. Lets keep the flame of our passion burning. Angling Jindabad….

Special thanks to Owen for joining and sharing his experiences with us.

The photographs are with Santosh and Husaini and we will post it later.

Looking forward to many such outings,
Ali

Man did you'll have a good time yesterday. Really regretting the miss. Congrats on the catch, Powai seems to be totally on with its surprises. What bait were you'll using? I'm sure Jawwad must be the happiest man there, with a boss who pays him to go fishing :) Santosh, how soon can we expect the pictures?

Great fishing guys!

Sure seems Powai is a lot better than its made out to be- maybe to keep other away?

Alexis is right- fish in pic 1-2 is a freshwater Goby (Glossogobius giurius).
Dhruv- we get lots of them up north. Even caught a 7" piece from Pong!

Cheers, brothers, keep doin' it.

V.

Yup that's a gobi. Mistaken a lot for a solly. But they are a bit more translucent. Little buggers swallow bait much larger then themselves and then just sit there. An hour later when you get tired of waiting for a bite and reel in that's when you find the little sod. Suraj Kund and Badkal were full of them. Incidentally they make great bait for mulley, chitul and sol.
