You go past ITPL and hope farm .
After 3 kms the road curves right (theres are big bakery on the right)
Another 1-2 kms and you come to a village. Samaythunhalli.
You have to go through this village and ask for the canal.
Park your vehicle at the big well/pump house and a short walk to the canal.

Jude

To find the route into manchinabele backwaters please do the following.

Go to http://wikimapia.org/

In the search box on the right top, enter exactly "srinivas kadur farm" this farm is right next to the starting of the backwaters.

When the search result turns up, double click on it and you will be taken to the Farm. Follow the road into the farm till you come to "Adakamarana Halli", continue to follow the road till you hit the main road where there is a box saying "Turn off to Manchinabele backwaters". Follow the same road up to "thippagondanahalli" then to Bangalore.

Well here we go again.

Went this Sunday to Manchenbale- Left in the morning at around 6.45 Am.
Stopped just before the Big Banyan Tree to dig up some earthworms (in the mango orchard - on the left side just where the good road ends).
After a tiring dig we manged to get some earth worms and then went on to the Dam. Procured 2 permits from the chap and then went onto our "location" which is beyond the army camp near the rocks(cant miss it).
Bait used was - Earthworm, Bread with Vanilla, Atta. None of these worked here. Tried our luck for almost 4 hours. After which we decided to go to the foot of the dam itself. The watchman wouldnt allow us near the foot of the dam so we selected a spot near the guest house kind of thing (which has stairs leading to it). 2 hours later - fully dehydrated and frustrated we decided to call it a day and headed back.

Truly uneventful - caught nothing except a small Jalebi which we released as it was too small.

Tried a spinner too but had no luck with that either.
Saw a couple of other chaps on the other side of the bank - was it anyone from here???

well better luck to anyone who wants to give it a try there.
/Susheel/

P.S. lots of peacocks around (compared to last year) Nice to hear them calling
