Hi Guys

Just after a bit of advice on traveling upto the Himalayers.

We are planning a trip next year in the North, on past trips we have hung about in Delhi for a day then caught an overnight train to Kathgodam.

Does anyone know how long it would take to drive from Delhi to Kathgodam and is it worth doing to save time or do we stick to the overnight train ???

Cheers

Stu

Hi Stu

Fancy seeing you here! I'm really pleased you got your big fish eventually, I know how much it meant to you.

I'm not doing another organised trip, but i'm packing my job in when I can rent my house. I'll spend 6 months in India before moving further east. I'm taking a fly rod and a spinning rod, lots of opportunist fishing!

Cheers
Ric

stick to the train mate. the road trip could take anywhere between 7hrs to a lifetime.

The drive to Kathgodam from Delhi is 6 hrs approx via rampur/haldwani - I would and always do go by road, like the freedom to start/stop and the luxory of a cooler

The only disadvantage is the typical Indian highway traffic coupled with poor roads - otherwise would recommend the drive any time - there's tremendous beauty in the wheat/rice fields

have a nice trip

Hi Stu.
Have you thought of contacting Richard Foster. He Has travelled to North India on numerous occassions to fish the Kali ,and has enjoyed some fantastic sport.
Richard helped me out when I first went up North, and as far as I know he always hired a driver from Delhi to take him there. As I mentioned to Bob recently, I have travelled to Kathgodam by car Myself, and had no problems.
I wish you well in your quest for a monster Himalayan Mahseer......Macca.
