I will be in India for a short time at the end of March and will be staying at Jalandhar. I should manage to escape for an afternoon and would appreciate any information on a location nearby where I could wet a line. Matters not what species or size - a fish is a fish and an Indian fish would do the ego a wonderful boost.
Many thanks in advance to any replies?

Hey Mate,

There are a few place close by... a few hours drive away. You could check Bhakra dam, great for mahseer and carp. Or Pong dam, mahseer and singhara (catfish). Or a place near Anantpur Sahib called Lohakund or something. It is a syphon and has a lot of water. The fuzz might bother you but if you act nice and touristy they will let you. Again big mahseer here. Another place is Rohtak but I have never been there.

You could also do what I do when i get to a strange place. Look up Google Earth and check the area around the city. I found a great lake outside delhi like this.

Lures and spoons for the Mahseer and Singhara.
Atta/bread/worms for the rest.

Best of luck
