After a long time we men of the family got some “pond tilapia” action this weekend. We departed Bangalore as early as 4:20 a.m. to beat the Mysore road madness and were happily gulping down steaming idlys in Srirangapatnam by 7:30 a.m.
From here, with some groggy directions we headed for KR Nagar which is the area where the Carvery and her tributaries enter the large KRS dam. We did not get to do any fishing in the river itself (which we left for another day after a few spot visits) but did get some nice Tilapia action in a large pond that was teeming with aquatic life including crabs, fresh water shrimp, snakes, snails etc. Much of the catch was taken for the pot and a lot of the smaller ones dropped back in for a future encounter. The location, company, early morning toddy, paddy fields surrounding all just added to what we had planned to make a great outing.
We camped overnight in a nearby farm and got some early morning action as well. Worms for bait worked perfectly fine!
