I have fished Pondy once and I think it is a great place. I was mostly exploring places and think that a few places have great potential. I am going to move this thread to the Angling locations and trip reports forum in some time, once you respond. Will let you know the names of places. But, only if you let me cast that Penn squall reel you got  .... Just kidding :-)

BTW, where do you live?

Hi ,

To be honest It will be my first beach fishing.
I have below listed lures with me : -

Halco
1> SLICED 20gm
2> TILSAN BIG BARRA (125 mm)
3> LASER PRO (120mm )
4> ACME sppons (gold/silver) - 90 cms

Shall I carry all of them ? any specific tip for cast and retrieve.

All the lures you have should be fine.
Just carry a popper or two with you there.
You might catch a barracuda or two with it....

There was a great river mouth close to Pondicherry, but most of them would be dry (closed) by now. If you are visiting in the near future, then you might have to fish from the rocks. Just cast and retrieve should work fine. But again, that is a suggestion as I have only fished there once and did not catch anything then. However, I visited about three places, all with great potential (1 river mouth and a couple of places with rocks).

Will get back on the specifics one of the spots later as I'll have to check in google maps for the exact name of the place. If you get a chance, please visit Cuddalore port. The entrance has a jetty with rock pilings next to it providing a lot of structure. But this place is about 25 km from Pondicherry, which I think is not that far if you have a ride.

You can also try bait fishing -
Use a sinker and bait with Prawn. have seen a lot of shore fishing being done like this in Mangalore.

Hi Susheel,

Thanks for the info ,I am planning to use : -

one rod with paternoster rig (with prawns)
second rod for spinning lures.

Just a question what size hooks would be appropriate for paternoster rig, I don't mind catching smaller fishes.
