I wondered if any of you fine Indian fishermen had ever seen a picture of a Zander? (please see profile pic) What do you think?

Dull compared to your Indian varities. Have you any predator close, or even pike like?

Cheers

Jim

The venue for the Zander was the River Seven in England. It's a broad and deep river for this country. And is right at the tale end of the area discribed as the middle seven.

Is that zander in your avatar the 1lber you caught on the Gloucester Canal, but held out to the camera so it appears much bigger?

There are no predators like pike or zander in India, most of the preds are like murrel, or catfish type.

See you Thursday at the airport, excited?

Steve

There's a cyprinid, too.
Meet the Indian Trout (Raiamas bola). Grows to 5-8lbs.

Hi Jim,

I believe the Mulley or Friesh Water Shark (Wallagonia attu) and the Silund (Silonia silondia) answers your question.

Heard of those trout, V, but can't imagine they would be predatory in the way Jim expects. He wants to catch fish that could eat a big Indian trout in one mouthful!

Yes, they are cyprinids Bobby, and as you rightly point out, they are Raiamas bola

To be a member of the Salmo family, they would have an adipose fin; a small appendage between the dorsal fin and the tail.

Yep Steve

Gorgeous as the trout is, he would make fantastic bait for the wonderfull English Pike or Zander. No, this is not the same Zander 'caught-for-camera' greatly enlarged!!! Laughing...

Mate I can't wait!!! Never been so excited about a trip. Bop kindly e-m me yesterday, just saying will meet us in Bangalore! All packed and ready to go!!

Also been chatting to Derek Dsouza about Manchible Damn near Bangalore. He's given me his number if we fancy it.
