Council of War - this is the modified ute (utility vehicle), a Toyota Hilux with bullbar-mounted rodholders, wide tires to enable one to drive on soft sand, a cargo tray at the rear and a dual-cab sitting four persons in comfort
This is Jack's Creek - very muddy and the snags at the back are where the barramundi and mangrove jacks were lurking
My very first ever mangrove jack - a small baby but caught on a soft plastic
Another mangrove jack with the Zman soft plastic in its mouth
The mangrove jack hit the soft plastic hard but was unable to do any damage to the Zman - these lures are ten times tougher than the standard soft plastics
For a change, an estuary cod decided to attack the soft plastic
This is the (excellent) aboriginal guide who took us to Jack's Creek and he also caught this grouper on a soft plastic
These were the lures that I had readied for Jack's Creek - the hardbodied lures were recommended by the forum members but were unfortunately not utilised (there will always be another day)!
We had to rush back after catching the above fish as the incoming tide would have cut us off from the lodge and the guide also wanted us to try to catch some threadfin salmon from the beach on the way back
