Pong dam is really a great place for fishing, miles & miles of water.
The himachal fisheries dept. has an anglers lodge here. Lots of rooms with
double beds, attached bath, room cooler, kitchen with gas and all the requred
utensels. All this for only 150/- bucks. Only for Anglers !

Thanks for the info...however, I had heard that there is nothing much available there...maybe cos I havent seen any reports from there since quite some time...If you happen to visit that area then pls do update with the catches and varieties...Not sure, but I think the place should be closed at present due to the spawning period restrictions by fisheries...any idea?

Alternatively, I heard Bhakra is a better place...have you been there?

Hi San Asr,

Ive been a regular at Pong since 1984... seen the place die out over the years becuse of undersized netting by the locals, electrocution of the fish by the cops and the fishries dept. Nothing much left there... there was a time when you got a bite for every 5 casts... now its a bit every 5 days... better to go to Bhakra a 100 km down the road....

Cheers,
IG

Hi indiangypsy ,you may be right but things were real bright in April/May this year. The fish were really bitting. I caught about 8 in an hour!
