Ok..so I FINALLY got to see the pumphouse, thanks to Sam and MM [Thanks guys, really enjoyed myself]. I'd been reading about it all this time and I had imagined the location in the wrong place [ read wrong state!!]. I had expected to be taken blindfolded, but to my surprise I was graciously taken to this really nice spot
Saw a SOL for the first time in my life. A HUGE one at that. I cast my frog in this vile looking pool. I dragged the frog back to me, mimicking the retrieve I'd seen the guys use. I saw a wake behind my frog, followed by the eyes and then the enormous face. I saw the take, such a violent take at that! I heard the gillie shout "set it" and all i did was look at this fish, with disbelief. No points for guessing what followed, the fish struck and vanished....I didn't catch a single fish but the imagery imprinted in my mind today means only one thing. I will be back!!
I tried flyfishing as well and though there were no takes Im convinced this is a very real and possible way to fish for these monsters. The gillie said it was atleast 5 Kgs but we'll never find out. The one that got away, there is always the one that got away..such is the way of angling.
Thats it , short report from one happy and satisfied angler. 5 hour drive to glimpse a take [or two]...but still a good day fishing.
