Ok..so I FINALLY got to see the pumphouse, thanks to Sam and MM [Thanks guys, really enjoyed myself]. I'd been reading about it all this time and I had imagined the location in the wrong place [ read wrong state!!]. I had expected to be taken blindfolded, but to my surprise I was graciously taken to this really nice spot :D

Saw a SOL for the first time in my life. A HUGE one at that. I cast my frog in this vile looking pool. I dragged the frog back to me, mimicking the retrieve I'd seen the guys use. I saw a wake behind my frog, followed by the eyes and then the enormous face. I saw the take, such a violent take at that! I heard the gillie shout "set it" and all i did was look at this fish, with disbelief. No points for guessing what followed, the fish struck and vanished....I didn't catch a single fish but the imagery imprinted in my mind today means only one thing. I will be back!!

I tried flyfishing as well and though there were no takes Im convinced this is a very real and possible way to fish for these monsters. The gillie said it was atleast 5 Kgs but we'll never find out. The one that got away, there is always the one that got away..such is the way of angling.

Thats it , short report from one happy and satisfied angler. 5 hour drive to glimpse a take [or two]...but still a good day fishing.

Cheers guys...

Great stuff Bobby... The PHG holds many stories of monstrous sol and other "things". Hang out with Sol-Sam and the gang and u will be soon wading into the canal with your undies on, and retrieving a fluffa of a sol...

btw did u guys stop for the egg toast and pumpkin sauce ??

GRC

Yes, the famous PHG. I have been lucky enough to visit this place once. (I too was not blindfolded  ). Great place with many fishy and non fishy (Read Bee) encounters and stories.

Your fish will also add to the growing lore of this place.

I am sure, next time you will be prepared enough to execute the strike, resisting the spell of a charging Sol.

Regards,

Ali. :D

BTW there is this status of a dude on a horse, next to Farukhnagar, i think.. As many times I have gone fishing there, the statue was always covered.. Did u notice it ?

I think Sam and MurrelKen can throw some light on this ?

GRC, on the way back we did stop at another place at Farukhnagar and had tea and some lunch/dinner. Ask Sam about it. He absolutely loves this place, had to drag him away by ears :D

Must be the same bloody place, mate.... Sam adores that place.. Just drop a hint and he is ready to stop for some tea and grub...
The challenge is getting Mr Ken to stop...  Think only once I managed to get him to stop...
And I believe that time, he made use of it to wash his car...
