Thanks Bobby.

@ Dr. Aamir: GLad you had your tackle taste some saltwater :). Longing to land one MJ. Love them for their ruthlessness and aggressiveness.

Caught this lovely bream in the mangroves in Oct 2011. Took my rod and dragged if off into the water. Managed to get it back along with the fish. It happened the second time as well but this time the fish escaped.

Not much to say . This one took the bait withing 10 mins of the second cast. Expected it to be a catfish as usual but this one took me by surprise. A whopper subaity bream as big as it could get. It weighed 3.69 kgs. A few picks to add.

Thanks for the lovely pics keyur.

Sad that the sting ray did not take your bait but who gives it a damn we (they) lost it anyway :)

27-01-2012

We head out to the sea on a boat hoping to land some big fish. We start to trawl and to our dismay one of the diving board snaps off. This was to begin the day with :)

Trawled for long with no results almost 4 lines let down but no luck. We make a stop a few miles away for bottom fishing a few spangled emperors and sha'ari eskali not much in size we head out to another place land a few (quite a many in fact) Japanese breams locally known as sultan ibrahims and most of them landed or rather 99% landed by Keyur For once I thought they were his followers. Every strike for him was undoubtedly a jap bream. while others were landing sha'ari's, Finally bagged 15-20 fishes and decided to trawl bag all the way and made a few stops to add a few more fishes but no major strikes.

As we were closing in we noticed the birds take dives and a bit of commotion in water just to realize a few big (i mean BIG) Spanish Macks feasting on ballyhoo. Got our rods ready and tried spinning in that area not much happened. Keyur missed one big strike, we could literally see the mack jumping around. They were definitely keepers most of them as big as 1 meter. tried trawling that area but no go. This was quite close to the marina barely a KM from the berth. We called it a day and headed back and whilst trying to retrieve my line I picked up a strike and thought it could be the net this time. Strangely it was a the Spanish mack in barely 6 feet of water. Did not take much time to land this one. That was it..my second fish on lure and first on trawling.

Pic is with Keyur will ask him to upload sooner.

Today's (03-02-2012) CR.

Not the best days to head out fishing from the shore. Keyur opted out as the weather conditions revealed strong winds of 14-15 knots and high waves. Determined to go fishing with only spinning outfit on my shoulder left home @ 0600 only to get out of the car to find chilled winds blowing inwards. This was a new location for me and when i reached the breakwaters I could see a huge swell emptying in the arc of the breakwaters and I said "No Ways". If i end in there... there would be no one to pick my SOS.

Saw a few filipino guys fishing with crapy poles in the calm waters. I headed west to the end of the break waters just to find the whole area with nets as close as 30 meters from the rocks. WOW life could get tougher than this... Got my rods ready and started casting in the winds the lure flew high and landed 5 meters off the rocks a few more cast and they weren't good either. Now I decided to cast underarm in the diagonal line of wind. This time the winds were in favor it took the lure a bit far. 10-12 cast and on studying the water it looked like a potential place for predators. Next cast lands above the nets and wo wow ow.. damn I think I got the net Grrr.... but wait it wasn't a strong pull so I gave a strike and yes it was a fish on.. did not take long got the fish on rocks in less than 5 mins. using a net and did a big mistake of not removing the lure first. Both the trebles got jammed in the net and had to tear it off. Now I had one fish and one BIG hole 2 achievements in a day. This all happened in 45 mins flat. Started fishing and 0700 landed fish at 0715, from 0715 to 0745 i was tearing off the landing net. Called it a day there after. Thanks to a filipino friend who helped me fetch the net ;) I always strugle to tell them what i want :)

Just one pic for this one. Weighed close to 2 kg.

Tsunami 8' rod
20 lbs l braid line
rapala jointed xrap

Thanks Vinod, Santosh, Sam and Arish.

Arish: Your profile pic could make a awesome mono sketch in portrait.

Went today again to the break waters only to find the sea swell reaching the level of breakwaters.

Tried the channel for a couple hours and hooked a rock and landed a couple of plastic bags.

Saw an old lad in his late 80's enjoying the chilly morning casting for bait fish and some bottom fishing . I almost got engrossed in his old looks and his passion for angling.
I for once wished his rod take a bend and that could bring a smile of the crease riddle face. I said a quick hi and he seemed to be a seasoned angler. I could see him cast a mile but did not notice where
it landed. On the other hand I could literally make out the splashes of my lure lending on water. in my mind i wished him "Tight lines good ol'friend".

Called it a day with no catches to report but what a day it was.

DeZZ

Same spot, same duo and same lure. Perfect weather but a extreme low tide exposing the slippery rocks. One of the known anglers decide to fish that spot at 0300 early morning and as planned I wake up at 0545 only to receive a call from this gentleman telling me he was leaving as the tide was too low and the rocks were slippery. He had lost a good deal of lures that morning. He leaves that spot even before we could reach there. We started casting with great difficulty because of the low tide we had to be extremely careful as there was a great risk of losing lures to the rocks. The tide was as low as 4 meters from the normal place where we cast from. Every cast was measured and retrieved with extra effort and using the waves to carry bring the lure back over the rocks. We were expecting a old lad to join us but had difficulty in getting the directions. Quite some time and we could see some bait fish around. Keyur changed places and I continued to use the same spot as I was too scared to move around with my plastic bottom Adidas shoes. What a wrong pair it was for these conditions. A few minutes got a strike from a rather small Spaniard mack. Was hooked in the gills and had fair chances of being lost. To add to it he got stuck in the rocks with my braid taking a beating and the place where he decided to make his hideout was definitely not the one ?i expected to be in. The fish was out of reach. Keyur helped me with the rod and I decided to sit and drag my butt off the rocks and slide down gathering all the moss on my back. Somehow got hold of his tail and struggled to put him on to the net. And then slowly made my way back. The later part the old lad made it to the breakwaters and we spent more time chatting and less of fishing. I even missed hitting a kayak guy when I cast my lure in the wrong direction. I can still recollect his face trying to duck and my lure missing him by a few feet ;p. Tried various other lures but with not so serious mood to catch anything. We called it a day sooner than expected.

Thanks Arish, Apoo and Ravi.

@ Ravin: No mate this one was comparatively smaller. Really cannot comment of the right size of Spanish mackerels. They grow real big possible up to 2 meters.
