Sup fellows,

Sam, MM and I just got back from another trip to good ol' Bhakra, where MM had a tryst with his first, second and third mahseer and they only kept getting bigger... I'll leave it to MM to describe the popping of his mahseer cherry... I'm just uploading the pics...

Thanks IG for posting the pics. The last one gave a decent fight and overall the trip turned out to be better than my expectations.

Needless to say, I exerienced first hand the thrill of hooking a Mahseer...its immediate response of running with the line, the fight when its near the boat and its runs then...something that can not be described; but only experienced.

:D I am already planning my next trip to Bhakra...and this time I will get a 10 kg one :D
BTW...I won the bet...hehehehehe

Great Catch... I guess beginners luck favored my good friend…. But MM if I were u I would pray to God that I don’t catch a 10 KG fish coz then u wd not reel her in she would reel u in water:) (this thought came 2 mind after seeing ur bulging biceps)…

And next time I would also join you guys :).. not sure if I can be any help while catching a fish but definitely would be a lot of support while drinking post the ordeal..cheers

Great Going Guys... Way to go..

The potential of this place is mind boggling and what monsters lurks beneath the rippling surface of this reservoir can only be imagined.

Go on trying and I am sure, one day this water will produce some record fish.

Congratulations to the team.

Regards,

Ali. :-)

Thanks Ali Bhai...I agree with you on the potential part...this huge place does require some experimentation purely from knowledge gathering angle.

Great trip! Wish I was there.

Yup! There are some enormous monsters down there in the deep. We've all had those hook straightening runs. One day we'll pull one up to say hello to. But we have to find a new way of doing it. Those fish have sen it all and they are clever. Very clever.

It was indeed an experience worth a life time - though every trip there seems to be.

Note how close MM has held the fish to his chest. He was smelling like a fish monger the whole way back to Delhi. I believe thats his lucky sweater.... so no washing and all the Mahseer aroma exuding....

Smell fish and its got to be MM/lucky sweater. Wonder what he will do in summers.....

MM has a thing for all things small (in fishing) - chilwa, soli to name a few. Known to drive 250 km or 370 in case of Bhakra......
MM stands for:-

1) MM: Mighty Mahseer
2) MM: Mighty Mite
3) MM: Millimeter Mahseer
4) MM: Millimeter Machhi
5) MM: Mohit Mahajan

Please vote!!

Hi,
I am new to the forum. I am planning a trip to Bhakra for Mahseer fishing. I am from Hyderabad. Thinking of taking Himachal expr to Anand Sahib and staying there, take cab to Bakra and come back. Please help me with contacts / numbers in Bhakra who can help me find the right spots and provide shelter etc.

Hi Contactkalim,

Two action points for you:
1. PM Indiangypsy for these details
2. Post your introduction in the "introduction" link :) before the seniors point that to you.
