Kindly don't create confusion by posting wrong information about the competition. The dates will be decided after a recce trip to the spot and till date no one is confirm.

Sorry im not creating confusion I just created the lists and dates based on "expected" basis!

These prize categories looks great and also there are good no. of species. :D

Certainly no treble hook will be allowed on any ones bait rod.:P

 Why no treble hook, we(most Hyderabadi anglers) are specialist in treble hooks which are hand made in home using three single hooks, we don't use any spinning or fly reel while using treble hook and is used only with feeder rig method for carp fishing. Hope you understand this and please discuss this with the senior members and coordinators for approval.
Note: please don't take my concern as confusion! :P

All will be allowed to use cast net/ Mullet trap to catch live bait but these catches will not be part of the competition.

What if a monster fish is accidentally caught on the net, will not this be considered as a some special catch

Arish

Dear Arish,

Every sport is govern by a set of rules and why and why not does not apply on those rules. In carp fishing, use of treble hook is considered foul on two accounts, namely.

1- In a fair contest, the angler and the fish should have equal chance and treble hooks negate that.

2- In case of catch and release, the damage to the fish is extensive if one is using treble hooks.

There are other factors also but I think the above two are sufficient to consider using treble hook in targeting Carp, Foul fishing.

Regards,

Ali.

I don't have any of my gear with me here on campus but I definitely want to be a part of this, even if its just to observe or photograph :) . Once the logistics and other details are confirmed I will take some time off and join in.

Keep me posted

Cheers

Dear Ali Bhai,

I've got few questions

1. Do you give us the choice to select the location for bait casting.

2. Do you already have some pre-baited spots or do we have to do it ourselves.

3. Apart form trebles is there any restriction on line size etc.

More questions in next post.

Cheers
Salim

Dear Ali Bhai,

1. Do you give us the choice to select the location for bait casting.

Yes, you can select the location and fish from there

2. Do you already have some pre-baited spots or do we have to do it ourselves.

No, there will not be any pre baited spot but ground baiting is allowed.

3. Apart form trebles is there any restriction on line size etc.

Line size will be your discretion .

Here is the proposed Camping Site and fishing Spots. This Picture shows when the dam is full. Water level will be much down. If you are lucky enough, you can see a wild boar or Leopard, coming down to drink water, from your camp site.

Surprising how you guys get relocated from one fishing paradise to another. When in b'lore watch your steps as you might trip on Owen sleeping on the banks of the river there :)

hmmmmmmmmmmm

I might be able to make it but don't want to participate and all yet. Is there a provision where spectators or learners can come to see and learn etc? Or is participation a mandate to being there?

Hi Guys,

Regret I will be missing this edition of the competition. However, I will be fishing on those very days at Bungsamran near Bangkok. Supposedly a paradise for freshwater fishing. We can compare catches later.

Amen!

Just checked some details about the place!....
A small read....

Fishing in Thailand at Bungsamran Lake

Who would have thought? That right here in Bangkok, sits one of the world’s most prolific freshwater fishing venues. Lurking beneath the murky depths are the world’s largest freshwater species – the Mekong giant catfish, the giant Siamese carp & the arapaima all of which grow in excess of 100kg (220lb) at Bungsamran. In June 2007 the world's biggest carp ever caught on rod & line was landed estimated to weigh 120kg (264lb). Bangkok is The City Of Angels for tourists, but for fisherman it is The City Of Giants!

Now colonel's statement about comparing catches, I'm sure this will break the ice!....

Bungsamran alone is a reason to come fishing in Bangkok, the fishing is so prolific & our guides are so experienced that Fish Thailand offers anyone a 50% refund who fails to catch a 30lb plus Mekong giant catfish in a 1 day session. There are not many guides and even less venues that would dare guarantee such a bold statement, so we challenge you to challenge us!

I am super jealous! Your gonna be in freshwater paradise colonel!

Have a blast!!!

The very thought of tackling those giants has got me into a funk. So every morning I jump out of bed at 6 am & rush off for a brisk walk & then to a short session at the Gym to pump up the old muscles. Have contacted a number of pals on the "Fishing kaki' website & they have assured me that I will finally be beaten down to my knees by these giants & beg for mercy. Last week a pal caught 24 fish ranging from 24 kgs to 74 kgs in eight hours fishing. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Lets plan the next trip (Nov perhaps) to a place where we should have more chances of catches. The massive netting at both saltwater & freshwater venues nearby, is making the total catch very meagre in our competitions. Planning a weeks trip outside the country to places like Thailand should not cost too much in the off season. Amazing fishing is assured with the bonus of other fun activities. :D  :D

Have dropped jean Francois Helias a email. He runs a pro angling outfit called Fishing Adventures Thailand. Jean is one of the greatest anglers in the world & i hope i get a chance to meet him.I dont want to hire his teams services as they are quite expensive. have already hired a pro guide ( Through some Fishing Kaki friends) for my trip to Bungsamran.

Dear All,

I am sorry but the competition is postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances.

Right now the water level is too high to fish there and it is almost impossible to arrange logistics for the announced dates.

With consultation with coordinators and others who fish Bhandardhara dam, it is decided to hold this edition in somewhere in June as the water level will be perfect then.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Ali.
