Here we go again,

I propose that this year annual I.A. competition should be a fresh water affair. The Bhandardhara Dam can accommodate any number of rods and we can easily camp on the shore.

March (First Week) will be a good time. This venue offer both spinning and bait fishing opportunities and we can target Mahseer, Malli and Carp.

What do you recon guys.

Ali.

Bhandardara is about 185 kms from Mumbai, in Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra.
Route from Mumbai would be Mumbai - Igatpuri - Ghoti - Bhandardara.
The last 2 competitions were saltwater over a period of 2 days.
The third (this one) Alibhai is proposing freshwater and that we camp instead of hotel accommodation.
I think the details can be worked out. It is the response for participation that is required right now to make it happen.
I am very keen on this event and am thankful to Alibhai for initiating.
Guys.......... please post if you are with the idea.
Sanjay

I love to join there with my uncle.

I have few questions to ask. these are stupid question but i want to know

1.How will be the temperature out there. since it is a remote location and we are camping there, heavy rain or hot temperature will spoil the enthusiasm?

2.What about food and drinking water?

3.Safety from wildlife such as snakes, croc, wolfs, jackals, wild dogs, wild boar, bee attack and a rare one Cheetah attack?

Camping look like a good idea!

No ,Your questions are not stupid.. :-)

Climate will be pleasant as the dam is also a hill station and early March will be not too cold or hot.

Food can be brought from many hotels that are close by. Plenty of drinking water will be carried.

No Cheetah's mate   , but yes wild boars, snakes, scorpions, and few resident leopards are known to visit the dam area..

Santosh

Dear Ali Bhai .. I would like to volunteer and help you organize !

March first week sounds good.. 3rd March is a holiday at many companies (including mine :P ) .. so we can actually make it a long weekend. Am saying this from the perspective of all anglers who have to travel down from longer routes. Ideal dates could be 4th and 5th March, and so that 6th March, people can be back home comfortably... afterall camping isnt as easy as it seems !

I would also like to cover this event as a photo-journalist. I'd speak to some close allies and check if I can get some media coverage.. no promises, but I will try ! And once I get your green signal, I will start drumming up the branding initiative on some of the regular Social Media platforms !

Thoughts ...ideas ?

He Bobby,

Got some spare time, when in Mumbai.

Would love to meet you.

Regards,

Ali.

Arish,

Kindly don't create confusion by posting wrong information about the competition. The dates will be decided after a recce trip to the spot and till date no one is confirm.

There will be rules in place to govern this competition and the same will be decided after consultations and deliberations by the coordinators and other senior members.

Prizes are sponsored by members and categories are on the basis of same.

Generally the prize categories are.

a)-Biggest Catch
b)-Maximum No. of catches
c)-Maximum cumulative weight.

Other then that some more categories can be introduced like..

1-Maximum species caught
2-Some special catch etc.

The place in question is suitable for bait fishing and spinning so two rods will be allowed per angler .

Certainly no treble hook will be allowed on any ones bait rod. :P

Catch, weigh, photo and release will be the mantra observed. (Except for some fishes for the camp with permission of the coordinators.)

All will be allowed to use cast net/ Mullet trap to catch live bait but these catches will not be part of the competition.

Regards,

Ali. :P
